It seems that proves Puffy's point - you are still using a front-end to Globex - GL/Trade being that frontend. In other words - PATS doesn't go to GL/Trade and then to GLOBEX. PATS goes to GLOBEX as GL/Trade goes to GLOBEX.

I do this all the time - when I get a signal, I have a specific price I want in at - period. If I'm going long, and we are below that price, then I enter a BUY STOP at my entry price. It all depends on your system and how you trade.

In that chart - where does it start counting the ticks - i.e. where is tick 1? Why?

You can't compare the two. The mini DOW has only been around for a few months compared to the ES.

I'm still waiting for someone to say that we "shouldn't" have droped like we did today - or that today was not "real" since it was the day after a holiday. LOL.

This post and the action today are a perfect example of why you shouldn't criticize another traders trades. No one knows for sure what is going to happen - and nothing is a fact until after it happens. Fact - whoever was shorting ES last night is about +30 now....

What is a short/long bar? What time period? IMO, the entry is mostly irrelevant - it's the exit that is most important. Focus on knowing when to exit and you won't be too worried about entries.

Yes - you are missing the fact that if you trade with IB, the trader that is responsible for the addition of liquidity *IS NOT* entitled to the rebate. Simple as that, no?

Don, How can you tell if you are seeing "every" tick?

If you are missing, say, 90 ticks between 9:30 and noon, isn't your 45 tick chart now going to be "off" by 2 bars for the rest of the day?

I know many people use tick charts to trade the eminis. I've looked at it, and they seem good - but I don't think they really make any difference. Why? Because of the level of precision required. Is your (or any) data feed precise down to a single tick? Where does your charting package...

I didn't mean to imply that $10K wasn't a lot of money. I just meant that I can see that $10K/month in commish would be expected by someone that was daytrading some size in the eminis.

$10K isn't really that much - about 2-50 lot emini trades a day would be about that.
