    Buffet and Dollar short

IMHO, its not a good idea to publicly bet against George Bush, the Fed and the other 250 million folks of the USA - sometimes they get mad.

    Chinese Renminbi

interesting idea - I would have thought that if rmb is free to trade, it may pop up, but then would be crushed with the Chinese bank crises - their non-performing banks loans are 60% of gdp, and China has an unemployment rate of at least 10%, which is probably way under-reported

Where can I buy Gold bars?

You should try one of the bullion banks and see what they say - usually they have tonnes of 'em and are happy to sell - Chase, Soveriegn Bank, maybe BofA. If you need a safe, buy a used, fire-proof one - they weigh about 500-600 pounds, will withstand fire etc and it takes 3 or 4 men to move...

Time to crash the bond market

IMHO, its a way for the Fed to get longer rates higher, which they have labelled for months a "conundrum". Jawboning only works so much.

    Manipulation question.

I think you can also EFP either way, cash into futures or futures into cash - it shouldnt be a big deal for your broker

    Man Financial

There are few indy specs out here. For retail, even etrade is jumping into the game. For larger desks, its all in-house stuff. I used to trade equities, futures, options ets etc and found it too exhausting. I now focus solely on futures, I like the T+1 settlement, and no worries about weird...

    Man Financial

IMHO, man is open to suggestion on commis if you trade the volume. Personally, I'd rather clear thru a firm that has a high probability of being able to take a real hit from a client, and open the next day than firms that have almost nil commissions, but can get wiped out by a client...

    Manipulation question.

If your spread is 3-5 pips, thats insane. Most banks narrow for tiny amount - not widen out. Just to get you to trade some banks will give you a choice market.

    Manipulation question.

How surprised can you be if a dealer throws his qoute one way and tries to read you? Its intellectual curiousity if he can fade your trade. You also have the option of watching the futures, and if the dealer reads you too far, to go the other way and lay off the trade in the futures.

Anyone have two accounts and do regular hedging?

Maybe hes trying to range-trade and not get stopped out whens he wrong. Why not put on an options trade to mimic the same thing?

    Goldman Sachs predicts $105 crude

The GS guy who wrote it, is ranked #3 Oil/Gas analyst by II. You have to read the report and not just sound bites. You have to think it through before commenting on it as well. But the cascading effect of oil hitting 60 or 70, is, at retail, heating oil hitting 3 or even 4 bucks a gallon...

eCBOT (YM) stops, who can view them?

pingplotter is available in the lite version for free. Try googling pingplotter. Also, try using a speed test on dslreports.com for comparison, eg, you can clock your speeds versus other folks who are reporting speeds from the same ISP - quite useful to see if you are getting what you pay for.

eCBOT (YM) stops, who can view them?

Only you can decide what your style is. But if I may, can I suggest you consider looking at the PC-router-modem you use? Some of them dont work well together and may cause your lagging. Also, you may want to consider running drtcp from dslreports.com to see if you need some changes on your...

eCBOT (YM) stops, who can view them?

Based on this thread, I traded YM this afternoon. I think the volatility is being confused for stop-running. YM seems to trade in excess of what ES does and what "theoretically" YM SHOULD. I used a 5 point stop with a target of 8 and was never stopped on 5 lot trades. Made about $640 in 2...

TT vs ESpeed injunction denied - Judge says TT patent valid

Infringement cases can drag on forever - the guy who patented intermittent windshield wipers needed like 15 or 20 years before he saw money from car companies. ( He was also a FX trader to make money to support himself.)

    Firms stealing strategies....

learner- sure, it would work. The drawback is the amount of accounting oversight you'd have to apply to both accounts.

    Firms stealing strategies....

Stealing strategies is part of their deal, thats why the markets are always in an evolutionary status. Conceptually its not really different than a broker front-running your order. The problem with a NDA, is that you cant prohibit someone from using your strategy if they found it elsewhere...
