As a long time trader of SPX which trades similarly to OEX, I concur with what thegazelle and chiguy are saying about the MMs. Just to state the semi obvious about the importance of volume: Mostly, you don't want to be trading with the MMs. Volume is key for otherwise ..... :)

Nobody mentioned IB? It has been working on Macs for years now. Between the above charting software plus TOS and IB, you cover lots of bases.

Are you using the standalone or browser version of TWS? I have been using the latest TWS standalone build, version 862 on a dual G4 machine without massive memory leaks, freezing or really any problem at all. I have not tried the latest browser version. I would not be so quick to assume...
