How to pull the rug on SPX market makers

Wow. You really have dug in deep to defend your ignorance in the face of lots of accurate and potentially useful information.

How to pull the rug on SPX market makers

One of the many silly ideas in this thread is that the only available prices are what is available on the screen. SPX is among the most active pits and is populated with many market makers- however, only 1 can stream electronically displayed quotes. Other MMs can post bids or offers as well as...

How to pull the rug on SPX market makers

Really? Every single time? Under all conditions? Please explain your thinking.

How to pull the rug on SPX market makers

Exactly. While this technique may work to get filled, it would be silly to imagine that it forces the MMs to take trades they don't want.

How to pull the rug on SPX market makers

I have been trading SPX options every day for over 5 years. Nonetheless, I don't pretend to know every corner of the CBOE rule book. I would be grateful if you could provide proof, via CBOE rules, circular or other documentation of your idea that a 2 lot retail bid, that is booked and...

How to pull the rug on SPX market makers

Your technique may well work to get you a fill at near mid, but I think you misunderstand the rules. The MM is not at risk of losing the bigger orders- only the 2 or 3 contracts you bid. What will happen is, in the event of a larger order, your orders will be swept from the book and the MM will...

    Anyone else notice the coincidence

I agree. Also, the uptick rule was in effect from 1938 to 2007. Plenty of potent bears in those years.

One cannabis joint as bad as five cigarettes: study

FYI As you could probably imagine, eating cannabis will not harm your lungs. On the other hand, its important to know that eating the amount of tobacco in a cigar will kill you.

    SPX options

I have been exclusively daytrading SPX options for years (quietly for the most part :) ). I would agree with you that its only worth paying the spread at very select times- these occasions vary depending on your time frame and motivations to enter or exit. Further I share your hope for...

Spydertrader - lay it on the line

I agree. Bighog should be given credit, not attacked. He did what very few on ET ever do - showed some open-mindedness and growth. Classy

    OEX market makers

As a long time trader of SPX which trades similarly to OEX, I concur with what thegazelle and chiguy are saying about the MMs. Just to state the semi obvious about the importance of volume: Mostly, you don't want to be trading with the MMs. Volume is key for otherwise ..... :)

Police State Road Blocks...get ready for more of this...........

Borders it? That is it. Back during the cold war, one of the ways we, in the US, used to distinguish ourselves from them under the 'Iron curtain' of totalitarianism was that they could be stopped at any time and asked to produced 'papers'.

    In Like Flint

I see a # of posts about whether Hilary is socialist or moderate. If you look at the health plan she drafted (which basically was a giveaway to health insurance corps- not remotely the socialist plan of a single payer....) her votes for the war, and Patriot Act its clear she is no socialist...

Nobody mentioned IB? It has been working on Macs for years now. Between the above charting software plus TOS and IB, you cover lots of bases.

IB TWS terrible for Mac Users

Are you using the standalone or browser version of TWS? I have been using the latest TWS standalone build, version 862 on a dual G4 machine without massive memory leaks, freezing or really any problem at all. I have not tried the latest browser version. I would not be so quick to assume...

Trapped in a Hall of Mirrors?

Saxon, Honestly I didn't know the original context when I found that quote and wouldn't have posted it if I had known it. Still.... knowingly spewing propaganda for other causes is not exactly honorable.
