"Plug the damn hole," Obama told them.

I have been amazed at the relative lack of reaction to what is likely a near biblical level catastrophe. Its like we are collectively so far gone in our addiction to oil that it has taken over a month for the fog begin to clear, and people to begin asking 'what have we wrought?'. What will...

BP Oil spill estimate dead wrong...

BP has strong motivation to cover up the extent of the release. MMS taxes approximately 18% of the value per each barrel released and according to article below, they are subject to astronomical civil fines based on # of barrels spilled. A clause buried deep in the U.S. Clean Water Act may...

The Governments Great Track Record of Providing Healthcare

Bunch of right wingers defending their right to get screwed by insurance companies. Only in America.

    Optional777

Hard to argue with the below. Plus, in addition to continuing the war criminal policies of Bush, he has shown himself to be hopelessly pro-business, emptying the US treasury into a host of loser corporations.

    Allegation in P&R forum

Maybe Joe is acting like most moderators would; naturally drawn to curtail your fixated, foul and sanctimonious stalking? After a while whatever ancient issues provoked you become secondary.

Why I think this will be worse than the Great Depression

True, the inflation numbers haven't seemed subjectively accurate of late. Still, I remember the late 70s early 80s inflation- inflation of that magnitude can't be hid. Comparatively, the last 10 years we have major deflationary forces at work balancing out the inflationary effect of chronic...

Why I think this will be worse than the Great Depression

How did we get away with cheap money for so long without inflation? Thank the Clintonites and 'free trade' for creating a decade long 'productivity boost' which in actuality was the effect of high paying US jobs being replaced by overseas cheap labor.

Why I think this will be worse than the Great Depression

I agree. We are suffering with the deflation of bubbles which were blown up in earnest during the 90s. By the mid 90s Greenspan admitted cheap money had created a bubble in stocks. Cheap money after 9/11 moved the bubble over to housing.

Socialized Medicine Hidden In Stimulus Bill

Medical and prescription errors kills hundreds of thousands of Americans per year. Its a real problem. Whether this is any kind of answer I don't know. Its important to note that a private sector version of this is already in place and used against Americans every day. When you accept a...

    Depression?

I'm not trying to say they are useless. I have seen plenty of people greatly helped by SSRIs (I work as a psychotherapist). Depressed folks respond to placebo at a higher rates that other populations with mental health problems. However, that does not minimize the medications value to the...

    Depression?

You did some creative reading into my post. All I asked was your basis for commenting on 'organic' depression as if it was an objectively delineated disease state. I have read piles of research on the topic. Across many studies, SSRI's are reported to work well in approximately 1/3 of...

High LDL Cholesterol Is Not A Health 'Problem' & Other Facts

From what I read, this is not because less people have less heart disease. Rather, its because fewer die of heart attacks (due to better emergency care) and medical care's improved ability to keep people alive with chronic heart disease. Living with heart disease is better than dying of it...

    Should cigarettes be banned?

Among schizophrenics taking anti-psychotic medications smoking is likely highly therapeutic against the deadening effect of the medications which, among other sedating effects, shut down dopamine (a major feel good and pay attention chemical) in the brain. I don't know whether schizophrenics...

High LDL Cholesterol Is Not A Health 'Problem' & Other Facts

I don't know that you have decimated anything. We all know humans and our ape relatives CAN eat meat. The question is what our bodies are most designed/optimized to eat. Since you are familiar with this data, you are likely aware that Jane Goodall as well as the Price article indicate that...
