    Cuban's "Sharesleuth"

it's a good idea, trying to create a user generated content community, with a focused goal. i'm wondering how they are going to market this? how did you hear about it anyway? as evidenced by this post, message boards are a good way to get the word out :p

Financial stability of sub LLC firms

fader's right if you put 5k in and get 100-1 margin and you sweep your account every month and just keep 5k in and save 5k a month in commissions over bright who cares in 12 months if you lose your 5k. you saved 60k in commissions  what firm and rate allows you to do that.

    Best Websites

someone mentioned seekingalpha.com, which is a very good site that i had never heard of, so wondering if others have some that are relatively undiscovered but high quality and free. here's one to start: traders magazine. it's a free print magazine geared towards IB traders. talks about...

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

i agree with rufus. strategies work very well for a while, but due to a change in rules, such as order handling, fractions to pennies, or just an inefficiency gets worked out, that systems will not work forever, and new ones must be developed to a new environment.

    ARCA "backing away" on NYSE

ok, then how can i post an arca bid, see that someone is going to hit me, then decide whether i feel like trading at that price or not. yes, they can do it if only 1 is on the nyse bid and auto ex is disabled.

    ARCA "backing away" on NYSE

you see a quote for say 500 bid a few pennies below the highest bid on the NYSE. you go to hit, and somehow it cancels and you get a "not there" error message (using laser at Genesis) and the bid disappears. talking about fairly illiquid stocks. anyone else finding this? happens a few times...

    Wall Street Job-Hunter Chronicle

temp to perm is certainly an option. it got me my first job, not at an elite firm, but as an equity research analyst at a large international firm. the temp position was actually back office accounting, but they sent out a list of jobs every few weeks for the entire company and since i had a...

Steve Cohen on 60 Minutes now

i don't get the allegations, because they didn't sign that the information is from SAC? who cares. people can make their own judgement about the validity of the information. if they find it to be BS, they can go long and squeeze SAC, or pick up shares on the cheap if it gets wrongly pummelled...

Steve Cohen on 60 Minutes now

this one is going on the dvr james cramer alluded to this in his book. hedge funds pressure analysts to upgrade or downgrade stocks. it's kind of amazing that the stock even reacts to these upgrades and downgrades given how low the credibility is of analysts. you could argue that SAC is...

Difference bet Prop firm, trading for bank/financial inst.

are institutional prop desks really as big as people allude to on this board. i can't imagine there are many people doing this. i'm talking about taking positions for the firm, not sales traders who generate and process big volume for clients. i'd be curious to know a number.

    Job with Morgan Stanley???

it's unlikely you will get a job on a trading desk without a top degree from a top institution or without knowing someone. you should at least try though and be persistent. just sending out resumes isn't going to get you anywhere, and i like the idea of calling twice a day for a week. i used to...
