Interactive Brokers: STP With 1 Week Notice?

Hey, I didn't know IB had a program to get the Secure Computing device studded with crystals.... Where do I sign up? :D

    Pre-market ArcaEdge order on IB?

Ran into a new issue with GTC orders on ArcaEdge this week (ticket filed), but the incident reminded me of this thread. Did IB/NYSE ever work out the issues so we can trade outside-RTH on ArcaEdge soon? I got another 1.5 months to the next "event" in an OTCBB stock of interest but thought...

Apama vs. Streambase(or any other comparible)

To be more precise on my comment: Each streams engine has its own extensions to SQL to work with time/etc. A common desire is for DB vendors to add these extensions so the goal of having the same SQL+extensions work for both backtesting and real-time processing can be achieved. I have...

Apama vs. Streambase(or any other comparible)

I'll defer to others on this one. I've seen StreamBase used at a bulge bracket bank and the sheer amount of data they run it on... well, that kinda volume doesn't come cheap, much more than a 6 digit # if you include the hardware involved. I am less familiar in this area with small solutions.

IB TWS's forced upgrade (deadline 20061222)

I have not lost settings between TWS upgrades... but the following tip may be useful. If you grab the tws.xml file (exit first to make sure it gets updated), you can reload it via Restore Settings. This gets back 95% of the settings. (There're a few small omissions in my experience.) This...

Apama vs. Streambase(or any other comparible)

StreamBase as in the streams processing DB? Stonebraker is a great mind in the DB community and I know of at least one bulge bracket firm quite happy with it for things as simple as VWAP to much more complex stuff. However, I would think that unless you need [extended] SQL interoperability...

URGENT, Secure Device Required for TWS

Having helped a friend remove a macro recorder was the event that put me on the paranoid side. (Actually I wanted him to re-install his OS but he didn't want to go that far. I would have if it were my PC!) And once a day login seems a reasonable compromise. I'm more upset that more...

    IB Tradestation Alternatives

Except for the charting, I find TWS' UI easier than CyberTrader, TOS, MB, and numerous others, even from day one. I think it's a matter of if you like the order management line paradigm or prefer a form. You can configure TWS to pop up the order entry dialog instead if you're more...

I guess it's what we mean by regulated. The rules are not that tight in FX, but that applies to all players. HotSpot is an NFA member FCM. As I recall, it was also acquired by Knight Securities last year (Knight is a publicly traded comapny, operates DirectEdge, one of the larger ECNs, is a...

I don't think it has been rolled out for individuals yet.

6:1 margin for overnight stock positions at InteractiveBrokers

Slightly different question -- does anyone have experience as to how long it takes PM to be approved? It said a few business days, but i's been ~10 calendar days for me, but I don't want to bother CS w/o giving processes 2 full wks (and probably wait until after Memorial Day) unless others...

    Alternatives to Interactive Brokers

This reminds me of a very minor nitpick that I've been told of the programmers are already aware. Namely any ACH in resets the displayed Avail for Withdrawal to zero for 45 days, though you can still withdrawal to the originating account and any wires in/etc. are still OK to withdraw. I have...

Maybe I haven't given them as much credit as I should. I never liked the following facts: 1) institutional and retail ECNs are separate; 2) you cannot deposit/withdraw in currencies other than USD (not that you'd want to, but it's like with futures -- the anchor of EFP settlement prevents funny...

Thx -- I guess it is not yet the solution. Wonder if HotspotFX will beat it now that it's part of Knight and given that Reuters is being taken out by Thomson -- clearly info focused vs. exchange/ECN focused.

"IB NOT a TRUE real time data source!"

Also note that different data sources cover different markets -- usually not a big factor but exact highs/lows or if a particular idea of exact volumes are important to you, this may worth keeping in mind. Welcome to the age of fragmented (or competing for the optimists) markets.

Speaking of ECNs -- anyone know how Reuters FX Marketplace is working out? And of any retail brokers which connect to it?

So I for one am curious as to what the explanation was on why the ACH out was rejected. I'm clearly pro-IB (as if anyone can't tell already) but in the interests of open dialogue, making things better, etc.

IB time & sales, backfills - it's throttled

[Please forgive if everyone already knows this, but it has been a source of frustration for me until I finally figured it out!] In a separate thread ( http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=93898 ) and also as a feature suggestion, I had observed a behavior whereby...

    Alternatives to Interactive Brokers

Security-wise, my biggest beef w/ETrade is how easy it is to get things reset when you lose access. With IB,it's that TWS is not yet on the STP widget for trading, a situation that will hopefully be corrected soon. Moving money-wise, perhaps the two legit knocks are customer service...

    Alternatives to Interactive Brokers

I would contact customer service for an explanation. Could it be a simple as waiting for T+3 settlement if a lot of the positions are equities?
