Did Buffett Really Claim to be able to make 50%/yr?

It does not say that Buffet closed every year with 50% or more, but indeed he had quite a lot years with 50+ %. The point in your quote is that it can be an advantage to be so small that you can enter even smallcaps without moving the market. Even as a trader this can be an edge. Think about a...

Market Profile -- who needs it?

I do MP by hand during the session for the 2 futures I trade. It keeps me busy if the market is boring (for me ;-) and I also can get a feel of the market environment. So MP helps me to watch the market from another angle and sometimes it provides me with more confirmation for a certain trade.

    Is Trading like Gambling?

In Black Jack or Poker you have some more singualr events, that is right, but it is not a continuum like trading. In trading you can buy a stock and hold it, hold, hoping, hoping ...:)

    Increasing risk after a loss

If my equity is up I should use more of it. Example: I risk 1% per trade of my equity on 100.000, which means 1000 per trade. So when I am up 10% I should use 1100 per trade. Same vice versa (then it is more about preserving my equity). You are right. Adding to a loser is different but I think...

    Is Trading like Gambling?

When you are gambling you have a singular event. You put your chips on the table and then the game is made. Won or lost. Trading is more a continuum. You have to decide when it is over. This makes it quit more difficult and easier to loose a lot. You have not only to enter the game, you have...

    Increasing risk after a loss

Risk Management makes the difference. I can recommend reading "Trading Risk" by Kenneth L. Grant as an introduction. He emphasizes one important principle (in order to preserve yours ;-): Take more risk when you are up and less when you are down. Losing and adding risk is similar to...

How to gain confidence letting profit ride?

Like so many here I have the same challenge. I work on it by using a benchmark I call trade management. For example: I have a set up with an exit point and a stop loss (sometimes also a time limit). Supposed I leave the trade before the exit or stop loss got hit. Then I compare the result with...

    The Fast & the Spurious

Patience is not a hallmark of my personality. So, in the markets I am learning to wait patiently for the high prob set-up. I am intraday trading on 1 - 30 M timeframes. I would say I am a scalper. Most trades take 3 to 20 minutes before exit or stop out (I use time limits, too).

I do not, but try www.lbr.com, the site of Linda Raschke. She provides the best education I could find. You can become a member for $85 a month and read the transcripts. There is also a lot of very valuable material for free.

Cause you are only human and a draw down of 5 or mor percent could affect your trading unfavorably.

KISS risk mgmt. works best. :-) Do you stop after a daily draw down of for example 5 %? Do you place your stops always in the market?
