Would like some advice on proprietary trading firms.

Look, I'm not totally against prop firms in your situation. You took it the wrong way. Just consider who you are interviewing with. Don't make the mistake of starting at the wrong place. That will stay on your resume (per se) forever. A reputable place is very important.

Would like some advice on proprietary trading firms.

I agree with Samba here. You graduated from a top school. You should be smart enough to see what these firms really are. Listen to what these traders are telling you. Good luck. :)

    Carline Trader Software

Software is pretty stable. Insufficient bells and whistles - no charts yet. Good for risk management. Rates are not the cheapest because they clear SLK.

    LCD Monitor Buying Help Needed

I agree with avoiding pricewatch. I've gotten screwed by 2 vendors from there advertising cheap priced products that I ordered and received different items than what was ordered. When shipped back, they charged me handling and a 20% restocking fee. Phone calls were not returned either. BE...

What is needed to start a small trading room?

From my experience, 2 or 3 traders using charting, analytics and level II's can take up some serious bandwidth when the market is active. A T-1, depending on where you are, might only cost $600/mo. If your idea of a small group is 5, that's only $120/mo/trader. My advice is not to save money...

How do prop trading firms make moneY?

you say that its only good for the experienced? what about the newbie that needs leverage and a starting environment? i still think that if you're new, its still better to be in an environment around traders than trading from home by yourself. even if all the traders around you are asses, if...

How do prop trading firms make moneY?

I was referring to stock trading. Most prop deals are for stock traders although I am aware of some for futures. In stocks, you need more than 10k to daytrade. IMO, you should have more than your last 10k to trade or you will have a less chance to make it. You have to have staying power...

What is needed to start a small trading room?

If you're going to start a trading room, no professional/experienced guys will join you if you're using and internet/dsl line. You have to step up. A T-1 these days are cheap.

How do prop trading firms make moneY?

Well said. I don't belong to a prop group but some of my buddies do. They are there because they don't have any other way to stay in the business. Most, not all, use it as a stepping stone or a foot in the door. If all you had was 10k, you wouldn't be able to daytrade. If and when they...

In most cases, you take 100% of the losses.

Random info? You are clueless. Many firms offer lower intraday margins. You should get your info straight before accusing others of misinformation.

    Dow Jones News-Michigan Sentiment Numbers

I disagree. There's a lot of money to be made on moves like on today's sentiment number. People make livings scalping nickels and dimes all day with taking less risk. And what do you mean that smart money will always know before the news? Next thing you'll tell me that they know what...

    Dual processors needed?

Do you have multiple monitor cards or just one with an adaptor(s)? Which is the most cost effective way to do this that won't compromise performance? If you buy multiple monitor cards, what kind of RAM would you need for each. I see that good video cards can cost $300 each.
