    Woodies CCI

It's hard to believe that anyone would spend three years "lurking" in a room that wasn't producing results with their stated methodology. You must have an awful lot of patience or a tremendous amount of free time. :)

    California mortgage default rate soars

I think it's really going to take a recession and layoffs in Northern California to really break the bubble. Things are selling more slowly but they are still 100% higher than 5 years ago. The resets aren't going to be that large for the majority of those people and all but a few have solid...

    Election

Oil related stocks should take a further hit. Also, defense is likely to pullback. If the economy worsens, I'd think housing will continue to show weakness. My $.02 and not backed by my portfolio as I am flat at the end of the day...

    RightEdge vs. QuantDeveloper

I fooled with Neoticker for a bit. It wasn't for me but it does have a lot of features, an extensive manual, good support, and the ability to integrate code from a variety of languages/development platforms -- .Net, Delphi, etc... It's worth checking out.

    IB Data Feed Problems?

Got to admit I've never had this much trouble. Hopefully, they'll have it nailed down by lunch time. The morning session is shot as far as I can see...

QuoteTracker Bought out by TD AMERITRADE! YIKES!

I keep IBcharts up fairly often. It has been rock solid and does a good job of grabbing historical intraday data without a lot of fuss. Things to be aware of are: 1. They don't really support it. By that I mean they update the thing very infrequently. It's more of a programming demo...

thestreet.com Says "The Worst [By Far] Is Yet To Come" For Housing

In Santa Cruz the extreme cases aren't happening. I don't know that they ever really will. Prices are down and inventory is way up but you don't see panic selling or foreclosures to speak of. People are still sitting on 100% gains over the last 5 years. Only those that got in last year are...

CBS – “60 Minutes” – We Reached a Critical Point for the United States Economy.

No offense, but I don't think you really understand the situation in Iraq if you think that any amount of troops will control the situation with anything less than Saddam like tactics. Believe it or not, the best solution for the US was the one that existed pre-invasion. Just my $.02

Is the coming Social Security/Medicare crisis REALLY that worrisome?

You know, if you cut the military budget in half you could cover the shortfall(s) easily and still be spending more on guns than any other country in the world.... We can only hope that simple cures for all those diseases are out there in 30 years -- I'll be 74 if I'm still here. Personally...

    Brian Hunter left Amaranth

I'm sure it didn't escape them. But over and over again I've seen that those that have had a huge run tend to get treated differently despite what prudence would suggest. Let me add to that I'm sure everyone knew that they were in big trouble long before the actual blowup. There was just no...

You should subscribe to some of the daily hedge fund news email offers. Many Pension Funds now do an allocation to hedge funds -- they need the extra returns as they are underfunded. What's scary is that huge funds like CALPERS have big real estate exposure. In the past that's what delivered...

Would you buy a house, anywhere in the US, right now?

Yahoo Real Estate and zillow.com are both interesting analytical tools for seeing how much appreciation happened how fast in any given area. It's true that the numbers aren't that accurate -- my sister just sold her home for 30% more than the zillow estimate. But it does allow people to obtain a...

Someone used my IB account to trade!!!

I had one where I got a email notification from IB that they were going to open a new account in my name. The only thing was I hadn't applied to open any accounts recently. I fired off a couple of emails on a Friday and they nailed it on Monday. The only worry was that it happened at all...
