    NASDAQ Single Book vs ARCA

Thanks for all replies...what we're trying to compare here is NASDAQ vs ARCA, after NASDAQ combines INET, BRUT and Supermontage into a single platform..Sure ARCA has higher volume than DATA or TRAC, but once NASDAQ creates its new platform, you're gonna have a situation where in many cases, 75%...

    Is Trading Ethical?

Correct..to me adding liquidity is like providing a service, totally ethical, and necessary if markets are to continue functioning...but what about taking liquidity? Is that more "predatory/selfish" and "serves no communal purpose" and therefore less "ethical"? I guess it really depends on one's...

Are the big firms "stealing" ECN rebates?

Interesting, thanks to all who replied..so we know of 2 firms so far that actually pass the extra rebate to their customers (Swift and Bright) which is great..i agree that its ok for a firm to keep it, but the firm that passes it to its customers distinguishes itself (albeit in a small way) and...

Are the big firms "stealing" ECN rebates?

ok, that makes sense...i guess i can think of it as more like a kickback to the firm like you said for doing more volume, would still be nice to know for sure that big firms are actually collecting it, just out of curiosity

    NASDAQ Single Book vs ARCA

good point..you can also expect to be routing out much less if you place it on NASDAQ when the Single book is up and running, coz the majority of orders will be on NASDAQ not ARCA.

Are the big firms "stealing" ECN rebates?

Not accusing anyone of anything (yet!) and maybe I'm way off, but there seems to be 2 tiers of NASDAQ add-liquidity rebates based on how much daily volume a firm does: >30 million shares : rebate = $0.0025 <= 30 million shares: rebate = $0.0020 Most of us are familiar with the $0.002...

    NASDAQ Single Book vs ARCA

BRUT/INET/Supermontage will soon be integrated into a new "Single Book" that will dominate trading in NASDAQ stocks with around 75% of the total volume traded. For NASDAQ stocks, will anyone still route their NASDAQ stock orders to ARCA after the NASDAQ Single Book inegration is complete...

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

Limit orders that are not marketable should post on NASDAQ as limit orders ("SIZE"). The first link you posted does not actually contradict that, although it does talk about other things. The NASDAQ FAQ below shows that "regular hours DAY orders" submitted before 9:28 am participate in the...

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

well i cant even direct-route a non-marketable DAY limit order to SUPERSOES using IB's TWS DURING market hours..so it looks like IB does not support it at all (premarket AND during regular hours)
  16. G

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

You're right, and i really don't understand why this is not supported. IB's explanation that you quoted doesn't make sense (can you provide a link to where you got that from btw?) Supermontage (Supersoes) does accept DAY limit orders in premarket, and they do behave exactly as you wish them to...

Regular hours limit orders on IB that will participate in the opening cross

To my knowledge, you can route to SUPERSOES manually and pay unbundled, but if you want unbundled with the API, then you must use SMART...so I guess you really need to use the API in your case and cannot place manually, correct...
