HowardCohodas Index Options Credit Spread Trading Journal

Howard, why this naked hostility and unpardonable rudeness to Atticus? He is clearly a very knowledgeable poster and he has generously made excellent contributions to your thread, for which I for one am grateful. Why do you not feel the same way? Do not begrudge him his expertise Howard, for...

HowardCohodas Index Options Credit Spread Trading Journal

Howard, This seems to be a prime example of what I have been talking about. I congratulate you on your thread, commiserate with you about your recent losses, offer you sound advice and wish you good luck for the future. And yet you respond in a highly intemperate fashion. This is, if I may...

HowardCohodas Index Options Credit Spread Trading Journal

Hi Howard, I've been reading this (long!) thread with interest. I confess my options knowledge is extremely basic. The critics' arguments about the inherent flaws in your method seem sound, although I freely acknowledge that I am in no position to judge. My own trading style involves...

A tick is the minimum price movement, in this case a quarter of a point. So if ES has moved from 1350 to 1351 it has moved 4 ticks. Others are different - NQ moves in increments of 0.25, YM in whole points, TF 0.1 etc. Contract specs are here...

    Bid/Ask in TF and YM

Phew! I've just been looking over my likely requirements and based on reasonably common stop sizes and my (one day) required risk per trade of £2,500 I shouldn't need much more than 15 or 16 YM or 6 or 7 TF. So slippage shouldn't be much of a problem for me. :)

    TF

In general, what level would you be trading at before you ran into liquidity problems with this contract?

    EMD - Average Daily Volume?

Is there somewhere that publishes the average daily volume for EMD (emini S&P Midcap 400 futures)? Also, does anyone trade this contract and if so, what are your experiences? I have had good results on YM, ES, NQ and TF, and I'm looking to expand the number of markets I follow.

Moving from bucket shop to broker.

I've advanced to the stage where I'm ready to move from my bucket shop (IG) to a futures broker. About 95% of my trades will likely be emini S&P, Dow, Nasdaq and Russell. I've got no experience in this area, although after seemingly endless research I'm leaning towards IB. Feedback tends...

    Rolling over process.

Hello all, I'm looking to move from spread betting the IG versions of index futures to the real thing, as I think I'm outgrowing the bucket shops. I've been trading very short term, but would also like to start opening some longer-term positions. Can someone please explain how one goes...
