Wasn't Paulson's fund down nearly 40% before gold started tanking? Any new figures come out since?

    2011: Rebuilding My Battered Account

Isn't neke still working a full time job while trading on the side? My point is there are traders doing this full-time for years having a rough time of it right now.

Aggressive people are better traders !!!

I don't think anyone I know would ever call my personality "aggressive" -- quite the contrary. But in terms of trading I have an affinity for risk that's somewhat above average, say bordering on stupid. The swings in p/l, especially when I'm trying to breakthrough to the next plateau...

How necessary are quantitative skills in order to trade profitably?

I was good at math in high school but got a C in the one and only math course I took in college. Majored in art instead, making sculptures and videos. So I would also say no. Can one think of trading as an artform, and the markets in terms of form, composition, rhythm, tempo? I believe so...

    The Trader in Prison

13 years and counting. Controlling your emotions is part of the battle, you cannot avoid it. You either deal, or lose. The tenets of a "successful" system include "trust" and "hands-off" -- and these terms just cannot be self-reinforcing over the long run. Not in these markets...

    The Trader in Prison

Seriously, why does everyone want to automate? Are you all that lazy? Things aren't easy enough just sitting in front of a screen pressing BUY and SELL day in and day out -- you need to get to the point where you're not even making decisions on your own during a trading session? And you...

    Weinstein Trading and Fading

Are your fading signals purely technical? I would think that traders fading extended moves would need to have some fundamentals on their side. I can always understand putting on a trade with the technicals on your side (ie buying higher highs, selling lower lows, despite the fundamental...

    HFT is Killing the EMini

Can't believe people are complaining about the "illiquidity" -- I didn't realize there were so many big swinging d*cks on this site that need to buy/sell 10k lots in one shot. Stop digging for gold and just keep selling them shovels.

    Through the Looking Glass

Can't believe it's been almost exactly one year since my last post on this thread. Update: I didn't bottom out mentally until September of last year. From October thru May I maintained a good streak of consistent months, and July managed to eke out a monthly best. But this week was a...

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

With the same reasoning, you could also make the statement that "Not leveraging your account to the hilt on every single trade is inferior behavior." Maximizing one's profits on any given trade has fuck all to do with succesful trading.

    "Scaling out" is inferior behavior

Lol let this topic die already. Your one purpose on this site is to prove this point? To scale out or not to scale out has probably a .01% chance of making a difference, in terms of edge, between success and failure over the long run. In terms of "maximizing" profits, I'm sure it most...

If you want to lose fat (for real)

Oh, and if I go to the doctor next month and find out I have some degenerative blood condition -- can we say fooled by randomness? (jk, never felt better!).

If you want to lose fat (for real)

(Yes, there is a trading angle to this at the end :)) I've been the same weight for most of my adult life, around 170 (I'm 5'7"). Although alot of the weight was muscle, I could pinch a good hefty inch or 2 of flab on my belly that I'd had since high school. I'd always fluctuate +/- 5lbs...
