Unusual Options Market Activity with an Application to the Terrorist Attacks of Septe

There was rumor that someone or some organizations have shorted the stocks of insurance companies before the 911 attack. Similar articles were posted on Yahoo Finance, Bloomberg, etc. I did not recall there was any follow-up. I think most people have forgotten that.

Trading is Freaking Easy Easy Easy

I suggest shorting 10,000 contracts of at the money OEX straddle. You can lose millions, if the market moves in either direction. Definitely more exciting than pair trading. :D :D :D

POLL: Will the S&P trade below the Oct. lows this year?

Will the S&P 500 index drop below the October low in 2003 ? My guess is: Not likely. Even if it touches the October low, it may rebound immediately. Most US companies are waving the white flags. They are doing what they have done ten years ago to get them out of trouble, namely cost...

    Wall Street or Main Street

IMHO: Way to optimistic about your prospective career in Wall Street. It is possible only if you have great connection and excel at playing politics. Three years of bear market has done a lot of damage. Merrill Lynch alone has get rid of about 20,000 people since June 2000.

I just got a digital SONY camera

I am interested in videography, video editing, and DVD production. There are different codecs, AVI file formats and DVD formats. It is a nightmare. I guess if there is only one standard, some companies may not be able to survive. They need to set up some barrier to prevent the users from...

Trading is Freaking Easy Easy Easy

Don't worry. The exciting time has yet to come. One to two months before 911, the stock market was in a tight trading range. Option premium was at historic low. See what happened after 911. :p :p :p

Have you heard of Didier Sornette?

IMHO: Never mix science with the stock market. The fundamental assumption in science is that the Laws of Nature never change. We just need to discover and understand them. Stock prices are affected by psychology. Fear and greed are two famous factors. Human psychology changes all the...

    Contrarian!

I have no idea about the US housing market: Housing foreclosures are at multi-decade high. A friend of mine is moving from Toronto to New York City. He told me that the average rental price at Manhattan was 30% off compared to that of three years ago. Yet, month after month, the US...

    Contrarian!

IMHO: If the economists and CEO's can predict the future, there will be no recession in the world. Experts at at a conference on the U.S. housing market in LOS ANGELES think that the economic fundamentals is still 'OK'...

What it takes to be a specialist

The most important thing is: You have to be able to get away with it. This is one of the reasons that most new hire in Wall Street need to be finger-printed, and have a background check. If you have been convicted, you are NOT qualified. :D :D :D
