Why are bearish markets bad if there are future contracts?

https://youtube.com/@CryptoZombie https://youtube.com/@CryptoKirbyTrading Also asking lots of questions to ChatGPT as I try to figure out indicators, futures and other stuff. Lost nearly 300$ worth of simulator money on Bybit and Binance simulator, literally every trade I did was off :/

Why are bearish markets bad if there are future contracts?

Because it’s volatile, and if I can learn to time the market right, there’s a lot of money to be made. Not the same with stocks/currency which can take forever to move and are better if you want to build your retirement fund or something.

Why are bearish markets bad if there are future contracts?

Who's crazy enough not to use stops? I mean that's the first thing you learn as a newbie. Why would professional firms not use something as straightforward to manage their risk? The most you can lose is what you put on your stop-loss, no?

Why are bearish markets bad if there are future contracts?

I was recently asking around this forum about profitability of the crypto trading. I got answers that 2022 was a bad year because the markets were down. But now I'm experimenting with Binances demo account, and learning about the futures contracts. What I learnt is that they allow you to trade...

Newbie trader for a newbie trader

Wow, 20% is not much... How do people live off that? I assumed you build up expertise, commit a considerable amount of money, say 50k, and live off the trading by using your knowledge to mitigate risk and produce more-or-less stable returns? What do people live off if there's 20% return for the...

Newbie trader for a newbie trader

Hi everyone, Just starting out on the trading journey, looking for a partner in crime to do it together. I'm based in Lausanne, Switzerland, but probably won't find anyone here, as nothing happens here, so looking for online collaboration. I'm currently considering cryptocurrencies and...

How did you start your trading journey?

That's a pretty mechanistic way of viewing things. Sure, the exact mechanics doesn't care. Where it matters is personal motivation. If it is possible to earn money AND be helpful to someone, I'd much rather prefer that over the option of just earning money.

How did you start your trading journey?

Thank you for the insightful post! This "not zero-sum" thingy is actually mind-blowing to me, as I cannot imagine how a trade can be "not zero-sum". This ethical consideration was actually one of the reasons I did not try it earlier. Can you give an example how a trade can be not zero-sum...

How did you start your trading journey?

So not entirely a free choice then... Given the path you already walked and the knowledge you already have, would you rather be working a 9-5 job, or trading?

How did you start your trading journey?

Being at this forum yourself, I assume you have a deal of experience in the craft yourself... Why are you in the business then, if a 9-5 job is better for peace of mind? Personally, why did you choose the risky way?

How did you start your trading journey?

I'm interested in something that wouldn't require me to sit in front of the monitor for 8 hours a day. So that rules out day trading I guess. What I enjoy doing a lot is analytics of various kinds. Learning something new, getting to the gist of a matter at hand. Part of the appeal of trading...

You can forget ChatGPT now, ChatSonic will solve all your coding problems in minutes

Yeah, but most of the reading material on the internet is trash. Everyone is busy producing "content" these days. I have some experience both in software engineering and in written communications. I found that what OpenAI created is a breakthrough in software. In software, we need to write...

How did you start your trading journey?

If I had 5 mils, I'd probably not be sitting here asking those questions, but rather hiring a wealth manager to do smart decisions for me :) I'm looking to start small. 100-1000$ range, but after 1-2 months of a simulated trade account. I know it's easy to get a simulated account these days...

How did you start your trading journey?

Well, not good enough for me :) Switzerland is a good country to live in. Takes care of you, great climate, great work-life balance. A vacation of 30 days and a salary that comes like clockwork on a given day is taken for granted. But incredibly boring. I want to travel the world without...

How did you start your trading journey?

Hi! I'm new to this forum and the trading world in general. My name's Toli. My original background is in computer science and law. Now trying out trading. What I'm looking for is freedom from a 9-5 job. There are areas of life that are just as important as economic activity. Health...

You can forget ChatGPT now, ChatSonic will solve all your coding problems in minutes

Doesn't sound too convincing. Their About page explicitly says they are built on top of ChatGPT. It takes A LOT of resources to develop something like ChatGPT; merely re-using it with a bunch of cosmetics on top isn't going to give them a real edge.
