My charting package seems unable to show volume for IB's IDEALPRO FX ECN. Is it the package or is IB hiding the volume? If it's hiding the volume, why in the hell is it doing that? I'm therefore guessing it is my charting app. What do folks use to chart FX with IB/IDEALPRO? Thx.

I suspect the size of the orders and the asset type also has a factor. How liquid the asset and how large the orders? What were your tests based on?

Seems you can get top of book volume in the GUI, but its not available to through the API? Or is this just a deficiency in NinjaTrader's IB connector?

Not sure if NT can get from Ideal, but RightEdge can. That said, why auto trade Ideal. That's a low volume high spread service meant for currency conversion, not trading as I understand.

Beware, IB doesnt seem to give FX volume to NinjaTrader, at least I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Portware is really nothing like the tools we've mentioned here. It's just a much larger platform that is not really visually driven in terms of development. It interfaces with other large solutions, like security masters, etc. StreamBase is an interesting product. Also take a look at Apama.

Maybe I don't have a complete understanding, but my view was based on the idea that with a bucket shop, they take the opposite end of your trade at all times. You aren't really trading with the market, you're trading with them, and they are trading with you based on what the market is doing...

Why is that? Why do so many folks trade FX on bucket shops? I don't quite get it, aren't you risking a lot of your money?

They seem to have returned to normal for me at max 2, and as low as .5. The largest I saw was 6 but often it was as high as 5. I guess its normal for Sunday night. With tomorrow's holiday I suppose it will be thinner than usual as well.
