    Legalised Prostitution

You have an extra kidney you're willing to sell? Well it just so happens I'm in the market. How does $50 sound? I saw one on ebay for $75 but if you can beat that I'm in. All kidding aside, while I can't say I've put much thought into the potential ramifications of that particular...

    Legalised Prostitution

Regardless of what anyone might think about prostitution itself the bottom line is that in any country that claims to be "free" adults should have the choice to do whatever they like provided they do not infringe upon the rights of others. If all parties involved are willing participants...

ANNOUNCEMENT- seeking traders interested in overturning the PDT rule

This rule is so ridiculous that I don't even feel the need to validate my statement with any supporting arguments. I support your cause 110%.

Isn't scalping getting more difficult now??

I'm sure there are plenty of people still making a living at it, but scalping stocks was much easier in my opinion before August 2003 because intraday volatility was much higher (mind you, it's been over a year now since I've scalped equities on a regular basis). I guess it depends on your...

Do Traders have a high alcoholic Rate?

I've found that trading reduces my drinking (during the week anyway) cause I'm a lousy hungover trader.

    no more dom on jtrader

Yes, it was a good idea. But by no means did revolutionize trading. I used to scalp for years with a Level 2 screen that wasn't a ladder concept format, and while I prefer a ladder I see minimal correlation between it's convenience and profitability.

Doesn't it kind of seem that handing out patents to minor software innovations like this are against the common good? Wasn't the whole purpose of introducing patents to protect the common good, not suffocate the development of better products? I'm not saying get rid of patents, just stop...

    Nymex eMiNYs

It's not as liquid as the pit-traded Crude on Nymex, but it's the most liquid electronic oil contract out there. Lately the front month contract has traded about 70000-100000 contracts a day.

    Nymex eMiNYs

Trade the Brent Crude futures on IPE instead. They are a better electronic product by a longshot and are growing quickly. Hopefully one day it can grow big enough to force NYMEX into one day creating a legitmate fungable electronic contract itself.

How Did you Get Started in trading, Investing, Stockmarket, Futures, markets in gener

It was February 2000, I was in my fourth year of university and had basically done fuck all the whole time I was there except for a shitload of partying. I was taking business and always wanted to make something of myself but never really took interest in any particular profession. Then one...

    Canadian Brokerages Rip Customers off

Any brokerage services in Canada associated with the big 5 are outright highway robbery and should be avoided at all costs. Thankfully IB, Tradefreedom and Ameritrade are around now but it's ridiculous how many Canadians still don't realize this and continue to get ripped off by these theives.

Search a good Hong Kong market quote/chart provider

Before I got esignal, I used to use Amibroker with the IB data feed and it was alright. No backfill is really annoying though, I used to have leave my computer on all night to record the data. Does anyone know of any datafeeds other than esignal or IB?

    SEC Fees lowered again !!!!!

    This is fantastic!!!

The SEC has approved a Nasdaq proposal to cap ECN fees

I'd like to see fees capped at $1 per 1000 shares and rebates eliminated entirely.

    SEC Fees

They ought to lower them soon if you ask me (which surprisingly no one has yet), especially since the justification for raising them last April was a declining dollar volume (price * volume) of securities tranactions. 10 months later, things have improved considerably in that department.

    Level II usefulness

It's a lot less useful now than it was 2 years ago, that's for sure. I think that the main reason is reserve size. Although it existed back then too, market makers have become very adept at using it to their advantage with huge size, especially in periods of low volatility. If you ask me...
