Futures Going To Get Killed Tonight!!!

What is happening is that volatility is back ! At least this week. Everybody's nervous, bulls and bears.

The way it is going with 13 minutes to go, we might end up green on S&P !

Futures Going To Get Killed Tonight!!!

Between BlueStreek and Stocl Trad3, our basis is covered. We will be able to say that here, on ET, we had it right, one way or another. Sounds like Barron's and other periodic or Internet sites (TradingMarkets) which often have contradictory opinions in themselves.

    Every Bear has his day....

I am sure that some traders make good money from the short side. I am talking about swing trades only, at this point. I could not develop good trading systems with excellent performance in the shorting individual stocks arena. Probably due to the very strong up bias of the 1990-2006 period.

    Every Bear has his day....

Although I agree that some are perpetual bulls, I do not think that to short stocks is mandatory to make money. Actually I happen to short ETFs at times to hedge my long only systems in individual stocks. You can be long Oil, gold stocks or even Merck today and make money. Shorting individual...

    TradeStation data problems...

Today was stable on TS. I had problems yesterday. By the way, any serious trader should have two data feed and two brokers, to avoid this kind of problems. Additional costs more than offset by potential losses on trades , plus the psychological effect on knowing that you have a back-ip. (That...

Futures Going To Get Killed Tonight!!!

Not impossible, that we end up green, I mean. If you do not believe it is possible, then I do not think you understand very well how the markets work. Namely trap as many people as possible.

s&p just made intermediate term top on 11/22

A couple of points. Should be defended, though. So not sure we will actually close at new highs. Interesting.

    Guilt and Trading

This topic has been discussed many times over. I think the real question is which job does not have its own element of lack ofintegrity: sucking up to your boss, lying to customers, selling products which are unhealthy or deadly, and so forth... I actually find trading quite ethical. It is...

How to choose the right system for the current market?

Just a word of caution about monitoring your systems and comparing actual performance with backtesting results. The markets are very good at misleading people, and so keep changing patterns to hide their "hands". Sometimes, one needs to stop overanalyzing its sytems. Most of the times, there is...

    stock_trad3r

Trading is a serious business. We are not supposed to be funny ! Just kidding. :D On the contrary, we do not see enough of them, although one might argue that some calls/posts are quite funny. Not sure it was intentional from the authors ! Bring them on, the :D

How to choose the right system for the current market?

Agree. Almost impossible to anticipate changes in market dynamics. It is better to let the systems trade independently. Capital allocation, money management then is what we can focus on.

I Sold 40% of My Portfolio Today

I have a question: if you were down by 32% YTD, would you have sold 40% of your portfolio , even with the same analysis pointing into the same direction, down ? In a way, it looks to me like cutting your profits short. I think it makes sense psychologically, not sure it does statistically...

    U.S. October New-Home Sales Fall 3.2% to a 1.004 Million Pace

And I tend to agree with you on another thread, that a shift of investment money from Real Estate to the stock market is driving this rally.

    U.S. October New-Home Sales Fall 3.2% to a 1.004 Million Pace

Good info, Hels. Thanks for sharing it. No doubt that some housing markets reached ridiculous levels. And the real estate market, contrary to public opinion, is still a market with supply and demand rules. It is going to be interesting, to say the least, to see how all of this unfolds.

s&p just made intermediate term top on 11/22

Well, to use this Poker's expression, Thorn is "all in" with his call of an intermediate term top and leaving ET if it fails. With the current market's action, S&P about only 10 points away from the top, it is going to be a close call, whith end of the month "window dressing". I would not be...

    U.S. October New-Home Sales Fall 3.2% to a 1.004 Million Pace

Yes, it is very articulated. But, like the stock market, where individual stocks can behave contra-trend of the overall market, I also believe that there will be discrepancies within the housing market, by State, by range of house price, etc..Here in Utah, the Real Estate is still doing good...
