Can't believe they did it again, Cougs up by 5 with 20 seconds left and Stanford pulls another miracle out of it's ass.

"Live In Play" c/- Of Briefing.com (Platinum Service)

I am a news based trader and Briefing works fine for what I need. I always wait for a stock to show me how it is going to react to the news, so real time is not essential. I like the simple consolidated nature of Briefing's service vs scanning through 100's of headlines with a real time news...

    I'm short Ericy

Not that I would ever base a trade based on P/E, you guys might want to take a look at its forward based P/E of 26.

    Tasr

I agree, not sure what I would do with the options, but back in the boom days I remember clients selling covered calls on INSP 20 pts out of the money for $20.

    Tasr

I can't find the exact numbers, but the CBOE requires a certain # of shares outstanding and in the float before a market will be made for options.

    Stop these threads...

I believe the PDT rules are largely behind all these market direction threads. Smaller traders have been forced into the futures, and therefore only care about overall market direction rather than individual equity movement. Like the late 90's these traders have to go onto some sort of message...

    Investing in REAL STUFF.

Last time I checked, this site was Elite Trader not Elite Investor, as a trader I don't give a shit if a stock is trading 100 times revenues and making nanotech cow ID tags in China, if its moving I will trade it. When I first got involved in this business 10 yrs ago I thought the same way as...

Unbelievable, up another .50 AH. Some fund manager just recommended a Chinese railroad GSH and it popped $1 instantly.

    CAMP (Another RIMM!)

Bot a whopping 200 shr at 12.5 and sold at 13.5. Be careful with this one tomorrow, last time they raised guidance in late October stock traded up 4.7 to 11.6 before falling back to 9.9 on the close. Only one analyst covering stock so they don't have too tough of a time beating the #'s.

    95% of traders fail???

Most of the studies I know of relating to the profitability of daytrading were done in in the 2 year period around the markets top. These studies were the basis for enacting the PDT rules. I am sure there are newer studies out there, I have just not seen them. I work by myself from home, so...

    95% of traders fail???

This info was taken off the SEC's website, and was part of the basis for enacting the PDT rules. The study claimed 70% of traders will lose everything, but those with proper training will not lose money. I think the 95% number came from some studies done after the bubble popped in 2000, and...

    Short against the trend?

I would guess that about 60% of my trades are against the trend. I am constantly looking for stocks that are showing relative strength or weakness against the overall market, and then waiting for the overall market trend to provide the best entry points. ie: waiting for an uptrending market to...

    sat internet service

I used a DirecPC two way satelite for a couple of years and there are several disadvantages with the system. Latency a big problem with active trading, snowstorms would cause major disruptions, cost was $500 for the dish and $70 a month for the service. I would not recommend the service to...

    What the hell - CECO

Not normally as volatile, and possibly a more stable company, SLVN.
