    Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

"Well-known supra-national" now bidding at EURUSD 1.26 just before US open ... ECB? Unrolling of Yen on the crosses seem to have begun or being anticipated... 15:52 CET 1.27 EURUSD being eaten away now... it is keeping close to it and nibbling off that cap. 15:54 CET managed to pierce...

    Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

I guess I should be trading more and writing less ... hmmm Actually, I think that USDJPY can go a lot lower too. That makes the EURJPY a little murkier and conflicted... The IFR markets target of 89 is certainly within the possible range today into this session. Supposedly EURUSD is...

It seems like the Japanese "verbal intervention" rhetoric is working a little - but will it be enough to hold up against the equities in 50 minutes? Traders will certainly be extremely aware of the unravelling that has happened - and the mechanics providing this - NOT fundamental economic...

    Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

I think that EURUSD might rise during US RTH, but other than that - all bets are off for today. EURUSD has not been totally off the cliff now, so a lot of the repatriations have already been committed - that makes it possible and somewhat likely that we can see a little improvement on the...

    Insane market

Peter, start reading news out of Japan, China, Russia, Brazil and Europe ... then you will see that the world will definitely start becoming a lot different in 2009, and maybe already has started changing a lot. After WWII, the US was more than 50% of the world economy, and the Marshall...

Finally... IFR markets admits: "To be candid, standard technical analysis is of limited use under current conditions."

Remember the "chicken row" in Russia? Russia is the world's largest importer of US poultry products (20% of all US poultry exports back in 2002) and in 2002 they banned US poultry, then lifted the ban in 2003. Then in 2008, they banned 18 of the imports into Russia - after the Georgia war, and...

    Wild currency moves

Hook, Japanese investors are taking their money back home, as well as hedging - since interest is roughly 0% there... and they need to deliver returns. Then there are also carry trades unrolling - as well as some speculators fuelling, for sure, but the markets are illiquid.

    Wild currency moves

EURJPY was 1000 pips in 10 hours :D It has made the markets like a Texas Hold'Em table, I think. And there are no "technicals" right now, no matter what they say... it is simply a function of the fear - and like Hans Jürgen Redeker from BNP Paribas talked about earlier on Bloomberg.

    Socialism just doesn't work, ever

Inequalities are now very high according to the OECD. Cities like Washington DC now have income inequality and life on par with inequalities found in Africa according to CNN today. "Surprisingly" - race/ethnicity is an important factor for inequality in the US. Beijing is the city with the...

    Financial turmoil news and trading

I would not trust any type of "system" right now... Fearful scalping with utmost attention to stalling and booking profits is how I would trade - anything else seems madness - especially on something like the EURJPY where you easily can get wiped out overnight if not stops are pretty tight...

    Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

I never made a short call on 120 to 117 on the EURJPY. I said that commentators were eyeing 120 as a target with 119.85 as projected Fibo level... and I said that 120 was just bullshit for support - since there are no support levels right now. Later I said that this was why we were seeing 117...

    Financial turmoil news and trading

Vice finance minister Sumimoto now also chiming in on the "undesirable forex volatility." That is why we are seeing more activity into the Yen trading right now. BUT - remember that there will probably be huge repatriation when the first few hours of US RTH commence as well. Probably some...

    Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

Hehe, it has not been more than 2-4 pips on 3 scalps here now. I can live with that - it's worse with the sloppy fills.

    Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

Eeek, IFR markets are short at EURJPY 115.50 target 99 and stop at 120 ... is that madness or what? My stops get hunted consistently it seems - or the volatility is just as insane as the spreads on the Yen right now. Trailing stops at "sensible levels" - my targets do not get easily filled...

Liquity sqeeze on my usd/sek trade!

Some spreads are completely wild just now - especially on Yen currency pairs - and I just got shammed on a small scalp here by "latency" from my broker - a +30pips profit was turned into a small -2pips loss. Better be extra careful today :) Updating -- after another scalp test it seems that...

    Financial turmoil news and trading

Holy, holy shit ... Japanese investors are REALLY throwing in the towel right now. 114 on EURJPY and 91 on USDJPY!!! That is just perverse... IFR markets went short on 95.15 USDJPY and have a target of 89.20 - they talk about "support" there, but I frankly think it is very risky. They...

    Ivan's Trade Thread, part II

Hehe - what "technical levels" are you seeing on the EURJPY or USDJPY , might I ask --- so as to understand what is "garbage" and what is not. If I had "foreseen" this turmoil and fallout, then I would be filthy rich by now... :D I explained earlier to you - WHY I go long Euro... I also...

Liquity sqeeze on my usd/sek trade!

Hehe, no disrespect, but where are you from? I wouldn't exactly call Sweden an "emerging market." :D However, currency markets show more illiquidity and scarcity right now - but there are strong financial mechanics involved making the bulk of the moves.
