    PDT Rule & Prop Firms

Looks like going forward traders MUST ASK their Prop firms to see the Prop's broker/dealers license and what exchange the Prop firm is register with. These non-license Sub-LLC are dangerous. This is bad for traders everywhere no doubt about it. It looks like: "The Price of Prop Trading...

Rick santelli is a fighter of the truth

I admit it I like to see Rick go at it with Cramer. He's (Santelli) wrong all the time and Cramer has to put him in is place. Cramer has to point out where old Ricky boy is wrong and that quiets him back down.

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

The ability of HF model to deliver greater profits to its trader is exactly that, the trader is able to trade with more capital and thereby earn more money for the investors and themselves. Prop trader who is able to earn say 30% 4 of last 5 yrs and one bad yr at 15% is probably a top trader...

What would you give up for say, 5MM BP?

Ok, everyone keeps saying that if you put up more money as a deposit you can get more buying power at these PROP shops. But at some point isn’t there a limit. Let’s ask question to lescor he’s a smart knowledgeable guy. “What is the limit or most amount of money a trader can...

    becoming your own broker dealer

So WARRIOR LLC now has 20 traders with $2,000,000 BP from you. Question "How does WARRIOR LLC make money" All these traders are making trades everyday. "YES" Don't they(all the traders) just pay the rate(say $10 per trade) that WARRIOR LLC get charged by its broker. NO Profit left over...

The National Football League-that was the week that was

NFL 2007 was the year of the Wide Receiver !!!!!!!!! Those teams with the guys who could catch a ball anywhere near them made their QB look great. For the question "Who do you want to see play Opening Day"????????? Indy Colts vs NY Giants Its the brother with all the good WR against...

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

Missing the point: As a HF manager you own 100%. As Prop guy you MUST obey what rules they lay down to you. DON, if thread was titled “PROP vs PROP” or “Name best PROP firm out there” no doubt that Bright Trading would be in the top 3. Bright Trading does provide a good service to...

Why successful traders chose to work for prop firms?

[/B] Does that small edge or trade at a Prop firm overcome the higher commish cost that a Prop firm charges??? It seems like a lot of small trades for cents/pennies at a time will also add to very high commish cost and make trader "Net Unprofitable" ????

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

My TUUURRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! Again Yes, Yes, Yes and no doubt about it YES::: “It’s a lot easier to start as a Prop Trader than a HF trader SIMPLY BECAUSE one can put up a small amount of capital to trade with larger capital.” If one is willing to work hard at the HF...

Why successful traders chose to work for prop firms?

The answer to that question seems to be:::::: too obtain extra trading capital. If a Retail trader has say $100k in his trading account and can earn 30% a year thats $30k revenue for the year. If he puts $25k at Prop firm and uses $500k and earns 30% then his revenues are $150k for the...

Is having your own hedge fund good idea vs. staying as prop.

As Arnie Spanier would say: MY TURRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! In the HF vs Prop arena: 1. Prop trader DOES NOT get to run his own business 100%. In that Prop trader MUST follows the rules/procedures laid down by his firm. Examples: Such as how many shares he can own per position, such...

    How to prepare?

To help answer the OP question about how to prepare? The first action a potential Prop-Retail( that is a Prop firm that requires a trader to put up his own capital)trader needs to do is look at his bank account and ask: "How much of my money do I what to deposit at a Prop-Retail...

    what should i be paying?

WOW Mr. zmiwa you are not just an elitetrader but a topflight trader. How much cash are you making every month on your trading alone to cover that $10k in fees???? Good job man!!!!!! Now to Mr. TM Direct. Is this guy crazy or what??? If a Prop firm can get $15k per month for a trader...

6:1 margin for overnight stock positions at InteractiveBrokers

Excellent point by opt789 in that each firm that offers PM seems to go about it somewhat different. It appears they take the PM regulation and make it fit their own trading platform. Reason being this is what Option Express says about PM. "Day trading and portfolio margin Portfolio...

When to negotiate rates with firm?

This does not upset you a little??? If you have just 2 HUGE months a year and make say $15to $20k and turn around and pay out that much profit. To me this is the BEST Benefit of Prop trading: a lot of capital to trade with, then have a great month with 100% profits paid to me!!!!! :)

    Can you negociate w/ IB?

Hey SKY you just keep on looking for good commission rates and DO NOT be concerned what others say. Any good business man should spend a small part of his day trying to lower his cost. Commission expenses usually are a traders highest expense item.

The National Football League-that was the week that was

Look at those N.E. Pats: 0-2 in the playoffs against the spread. And now they are -12 vs a N.Y. Giants team that almost beat in last regular season game. As I look at Pats last three games they have turned into one of those High Growth/High P/E stocks (the ones in which your mom warn you...

Are Prop Firms Designed for Financially Poor Traders?

That is a fair answer Man. Trader. However, if a PROP firm does provide more leverage than retail(20:1 vs 4:1), if PROP firm has lower commission rates on a per share basis than retail, offers payouts when trader ask, has no lockup period of the traders capital, has at least a good trading...
