    TVIX drawdown question

Thanks for the tip. The short vol game is ceaselessly fascinating.

    TVIX drawdown question

Yes, I do the Long Leaps puts thing with UVXY, but when it got down-leveraged from 2X to 1.5X, much of my profit was erased. Now it's a much slower gain, too. Wish TVIX had options to directly cover a short position. Might use VIX calls if I can get a short TVIX fill on the next spike, whenever...

Best Instruments for Hedging Short Vol

Yes, I could backtest or wait 1) or 20 years and see what various formations show. But if someone has already done the work ....

Best Instruments for Hedging Short Vol

Ok, let's say in a 10k account I am short 2K of TVIX and the rest is in cash. Even though some short vol crowd simply hedge like this with cash, I want a separate hedge against a meltdown, not just a drawdown. So, do I use two nickel VXX OTM calls, a proportional amount of VIX calls or employ...

What happens to options when a company is taken over by a tender

Gotcha. Thanks. The first scenario sounds great. Not so the second. But you take what you can get.

What happens to options when a company is taken over by a tender

Ok, here is an example. Let's say I am short a naked call LEAP with a year to go strike price of 50, and today a tender offer for the stock at 40 ends and the company is acquired by tender. What happens to my LEAP? Closed out at 100 percent profit for me? Do I have to wait the year? Do I have...

What happens to options when a company is taken over by a tender

Yeah, I figured that I was just wondering how they do it for OTM shorts. I mean could they somehow go in the money even though the underlying will no longer trade? I can't imagine it would be based on the acquirer's stock price? There must be a method; it can't be ad hoc each time, right?

What happens to options when a company is taken over by a tender

Let's say the deal goes through I will close Jan 1, hypothetically. And I have a Jan 18 short OTM put. What happens between Jan. 1 and Jan. 18? Do I get an early expiration?

Commission on options on the TSX (Canada) at IB, TS, TDA

haven't checked out the generalities, but recently found a decent risk/return play That would make the hassles of currency, fees and commission possibly worthwhile.

Commission on options on the TSX (Canada) at IB, TS, TDA

Thanks. Yeah, generally surprised I can't trade Canadian equity options on this side of the border. Maybe I can get a Canadian friend to open a joint account for us here.

Commission on options on the TSX (Canada) at IB, TS, TDA

What is TMX? The same as TSX? I'll assume it is and wow I can't believe I'm barred from doing something like that by my government. Enough to make me a libertarian.
