New trader. Is my strategy ridiculous?

Couple of random comments. Most people lose money, so common thinking by logic is flawed. Your strategy is dangerous in equities much more efficient in indices, particularly dividend paying indices, ie. spy or dia. Remember that stocks can go to zero, indices will not. Start slow...

    Two questions regarding trend-following systems...

Trends are usually encapsulated in well defined channels, buy low, short high and don't fade their bias. Try to stick to timeframes above 60 min, otherwise your trends are not your friends :D

    Long term leverage and capital

Can you please be kind enough to suggest the structure for it ? I understand leaps are long term options with expiration years ahead with potential high premium but that's as far as my knowledge goes. Thank you

    Long term leverage and capital

I want to buy SPY as a long term position, over 1 year period. However I want to make good use of leveraged instruments for this, like ES futures, yet I want to receive the tax benefits of long term capital gains. Unfortunately ES rolls over quickly and the deepest expiration is not further...

Successful Swing traders, how do you get past this ?

Phase 1 Daytrading I failed as a daytrader and the reason for it was not in the following list: money management discipline leverage understanding of charts It was actually noise. Long stopped, short stopped, long stopped, in the end even with price going nowhere. This so called...

Grinding it out, day after day

Lescor, Thank you for taking the time to create the thread and stick to it. Are you willing to throw the losers a bone here ? I need a push to the right path, no matter what I do, over the course of time I seem to do break even at best. The only strategy that has ever worked for me...

I'm not sure what kind of games you guys play here but I don't got the time or the interest. I said to expect the USD to pop and the ES to tank, nothing else. If you dont like it, ignore it. I play by my rules not yours. ESD

Doing so would reveal a trading edge, and that it's not going to happen. Take today's close and hold long until the end of next week, then you decide how profitable the trade was. As far as stop, 2% below today's low should be enough but mostly not needed. ESD

Wait a couple months or buy new laptop on Black Friday?

There was a period in my life money was tight so I would only shop once a year on Black Friday. Clothing, Xmas presents, birthday presents for next year, Electronics, Furniture, you name it. Best time of the year to buy. Best of luck. ESD

USD-YEN Pair is approaching a bottoming area, will it be the bottom, I don't know but temporary, I'm pretty sure. Considering this pair runs inversely to the US indexes, watch your back if swing trading long, temporary or not a top is approaching the ES soon. ESD

Most of the market turns happen due to technicals. When the technicals are no longer valid, that's when you get breakouts. I'm not sure why traders spend time rationalizing whats irrational. Ignore the news, it will do you and your trading a lot of good. ESD
