    Discrimination against the sick

... and what if you don't have the money? Am I to conclude you don't give a sh!t about your fellow American brother or sister? Too often when I hear conservatives say "personal responsibility" they are code words for "hell no I'm not paying tax dollars to pay for someone else's problems."...

When will Northern CA real estate reach bottom?

Bottom will be reached when average people can qualify to buy average homes. 1) The Sacramento average family income is about $67,000 per HUD. 2) Assume banks will require traditional financing, good credit and conservative terms. With $67k income and $10k down, 6% 30-yr fixed, $2500/year...

President Hillary Clinton - Best for the Economy !!

Barack Obama has the best economic ideas of the three major candidates. Hillary takes second place in my view; McCain would be a complete disaster and he would just dig the hole we are in deeper. The whole root of the U.S.'s problem stems from bad economic policies that the Republicans...

    Great Words From A Candidate

Barack Obama is a great patriot. He loves this country and believes great things can happen if we just pull together and work for it. The sheer optimism towards America is a breathtaking contrast against the cynical pessimism that is fashionable now. I think these words should go down as one...

Sao Paulo to experience the coldest january in 20 years

Nice try, but cold snaps fits into the global warming climate change scenario. The theory predicts increasing volatility in the weather. Expect more rain, floods, droughts, stronger tornadoes and hurricanes, heat waves. And odd cold snaps and snowfalls. Weather extremes will get more extreme.

George Bush, GOP Turn to Socialism

The Bush economic stimulus plan -- giving almost everyone money for nothing -- is not really a tax refund or tax rebate because the money is not tied to actual taxes paid on last year's 1040 or owed this year. You pass a crude means test, you get the cash. Therefore the stimulus is really just a...

Buying a new monitor (suggestions please)

Reading through these posts, I think the trashing of TN panels is a little overdone (maybe I should say TN panels are oversold?). True, early TN's are pretty bad but I think new ones have been refined to help overcome some of the limitations. A good TN panel is excellent for trading. It's not...

AMEX Trading Halted All ETFs Today. Why?

Today (Jan. 25, 2008) AMEX halted trading on ETFs at around 1430 ET. I went to place a trade with my online broker and I get the message, "trading in the security is halted." No mention of it at the AMEX web site. What happened?

    Election predictions

Hillary vs. McCain -- with Hillary winning. Hillary will pick Wes Clark as the V.P. running mate. Clark, the 4-star General of the U.S. contingent in the NATO-Kosovo war, will be picked by Hillary to strengthen the ticket with regards to running the Iraq occupation, anti-terrorism, and so on...

    Better make your millions fast

clacy: "but saying that we will be a 3rd world country is silly at best." True, the U.S. will never be a Third World nation -- which is defined as a developing nation -- but we have lost and slowly losing our status as the #1 economic power in the world. The U.S. is transitioning into a...

When will Gummit numbers show recession?

GDP is a lagging indicator, it takes a while for the trends to show up in the data. The Index of Leading Indicators was negative for Oct., Nov., and Dec. All the signs are shifting towards recession: unemployment at 5% and rising; retail sales are coming in negative (retail sales were...

Recession by November a blessing in disguise?

You might want to check your facts there. DEM 1960 thru 1968: John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson, both Dem. with a Democratic Congress. GDP 1960: 526 bil GDP 1968: 910 bil +73% growth in 8 years REP 2001 thru 2006: GW Bush, Rep., with a Rep. Congress. GDP 2001: 10128 bil GDP 2006...

Dow Jones, Nasdaq and S&P 500 indices: Perfect Head'n'Shoulders!

Habit. A lot of people use the 40, a lot use the 50. I don't think it makes much difference. The 40 will cross the 200 a little faster, though.

Dow Jones, Nasdaq and S&P 500 indices: Perfect Head'n'Shoulders!

Yes, you see head and shoulders patterns from time to time on individual issues but never for the entire market! This is incredible and is a serious signal for more declines to come. The chart speaks for itself: Also note the "death cross" -- 40 day MA crossing down under the 200 day...

Whats going to happen Monday / Tuesday??

I agree, I could easily see the Dow going up to touch the 200 MA line at 13300, only to be rejected and head back down to put in a new low under 12800, probably 12500. If the Dow got rejected by the 200 MA that would another sign warning of a bear market.

Can US afford a tax cut?

Of course we can't afford a tax cut. If the Republicans stay in power and continue the Bush tax cuts then you can kiss our currency goodbye. The two political parties have their strengths and weaknesses. Managing the economy responsibly is a Republican weakness. Their track record isn't very...

Whats going to happen Monday / Tuesday??

My guess is Mon. and Tue. will be a couple of doji days or a little bounce up (referring to the Dow 30 chart) because Friday's close was getting close to oversold and it is sitting at a major support line. A lot of times the market doji's or makes small candles while it waits for near-term...
