As drm7 pointed out, I agree that 1130 is a solid support area and also where the EMA is situated. I adjusted the stop higher to 1128, at the spike low created yesterday. This way I am securing a lot of profit and yet give the market enough wiggle room.

vinc, in that post I was referring to price alerts such as offered in TWS. I was once having a several month vacation in Kuala Lumpur and found this feature very handy (U.S. trading hours are at night time over there). Frequently, I had to wake up at 2 or 3 AM and do my trade. Funny times.

Adjusted my stop to 1105.50, allowing the price enough wiggle room and at the same time securing some profits since yesterday. Given my entry, unrealized profits are currently at about $2,150.

The market is a battleground for two opposing parties consisting of bulls and bears, who each fight for control. Bullish participants want the price to rise because only then they will make money, but they will forfeit money if the price falls. Bearish participants, on the other hand, have the...

I'm not here to offer a realtime signaling service, but to discuss my trades and ES setups. I prefer to take my time and write something worthwhile than saying "Here guys, I bought but go figure out yourself why." As I offered previously, I am very open for constructive discussion and gladly...

I very much welcome a medium on which I can discuss my thoughts in real-time with fellow trend traders. I find this forum unsuitable for discussions that at times requires immediate reaction in a dynamic market. What's more, I need to write and annotate charts here which consumes time. Open for...

Bought @ 1092.00, Stop @ 1071.50 After a few days of inactivity, I finally found the pattern I was looking for to enter a new position. A horizontal resistance area was forming intraday at around 1093 which eventually broke near EOD. I took the opportunity to buy with a stop at the low based...

My long position was not a success this time. It stopped out at 1152 with a loss of $587.50. I'm looking to buy again when we see a good break of 1162 where the fight for control is taking place. It already seems like bears are going to lose. Price found strong support at the former resistance I...

Bought @ 1163.75, Stop @ 1152 My position was stopped out at 1163.50, which makes it a breakeven trade (actually a small loss when considering commissions). Price is now blasting above the resistance at 1162 again which is why I bought with a stop at the trough created premarket at 1152...

I set the stop lower to 1163.50, the peak created yesterday below resistance, because I figure that I have no objective reason to stay bearish beyond that.

drm7, I am trading real money and started with $10k on IB. But I find the starting capital rather irrelevant, you just have to be able to cope with the monetary swings due to the leverage in futures. The charts cover all trading hours of futures and they're crucial to determine support and...

Short @ 1163.50, Stop @ 1182.50 I closed out my previous long position for 29 points profit or $1,450 and reversed at the same price just now because I see a visible support broken at the 1162 area. A personal side note: I find weird how the market is stuck in this range (1100 to 1200) for 8...

Journal of index futures trading [Part 2]

DOM not that I know of - only the current bid/ask and corresponding size. It is possible to switch between a few select time frames ranging from intraday 1D, 1W, 1M upto daily 3M, 6M, ... 5Y. Apparently, IB is still working on better mobile charting.

adamm2, that's why I love trend following so much. It is absolutely objective, straightforward, and best of all: an approach that will last as long as trading exists. Not trying to sound cocky, but the trades I post here might be a good reference point for a newbie. I am posting charts and...

TOS does not offer realtime quotes even when subscribed to their feeds? I'm with IB and it's all realtime on mobileTWS. I have not found my day job to be a hindrance to my trading, same vice versa. Actually it has improved my trading, as I do not look at the market that much anymore to end up...

How much money to deposit for new account?

It very much depends on how large your risk per trade is. You should be able to digest 20 failed trades in a row. I'd say 10 to 15k minimum per contract. If you are a profitable trader, you just need to meet the margin requirements as profits will give you a solid cushion in no time. But since...

Bought @ 1134.50, Stop @ 1114 My short position was closed out last night at 1139.50 for a gain of $2787.50. The market is breaking the resistance drawn in my previous post right now, which is why I am in a new long trade from 1134.50. Total profit since beginning: $6325
