    Housing Rolling Along 2

    Just thought I'd post a quote from John R. Talbott in his book "Sell Now!": "Even if you optimistically (and naively) believe our governmnet is independent of political pressure brought on it by industry and the banks, the Fed may be very slow to force banks to recognize losses and thus push...

    Excellent Indicators to daytrade the ER

    If the goal is to have a tracking system that follows price tightly, an SMA or EMA with a sufficiently shortened time constant (lookback length) will do just fine. Just remember, whether it is SMA, EMA, Lin Reg, or even Jurik's adaptive EMA, the goal is one in the same. To filter price noise...

    Excellent Indicators to daytrade the ER

    The MACD is essentially an oscillator version of a dual moving average crossover. Why would this give you any more information than your moving averages already do? Also, what is special about using Linear Reg as opposed to a shorter-length EMA or SMA? I'm not trying to dog your work, but...

    Does trading wear you out?

    When I started out I used to get small panic attacks. It's the body retaliating for subjecting it to too much stress. Ironically, the more markets I started trading, the less time I had to pay attention to what was going on in each market, and the stress went down. I've both lost and made...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

    I'm looking forward to it. I'm aiming to pick up properties in Southern California in several years as the dust from the California RE avalanche settles. I'm particularly fond of Newport Beach and Corona Del Mar areas. RoughTrader

    class action against FXCM

    No, not that I have seen. I see the bid and the ask track each other quite tightly even during news events. The most I've seen the bid and ask spread at is 3 ticks. Most of the time, you can get in and out with limit orders and don't have to pay any spread, just commish. RoughTrader

    class action against FXCM

    Exactly. Globex Euro-FX is one of my cash cows. At 12.50 per tick per contract, the thing moves much more than the ES and is liquid enough for me to place limit orders of up to 50 contracts at a time and get filled easily most of the time. I trade retail forex, but am starting to really dislike...

    e-mini dow scalping

    Actually, at least I don't know why. In a relatively trendless day, the $TICK will tend to revert back towards 0 if it approaches an extreme value, say + or - 800 to 1200. In such a situation, if the $TICK hits -1000, as it starts retracing to zero, why wouldn't buying a dip work? RoughTrader

    Is this slippage or what!

    I've had this happen to me in currency futures, mini-sized oil, Ag futures, bond futures, and spot forex. Not the way you describe though. Each time it happened the price gapped against me in a new session and my stops didn't take me out the split second the market reopened. TWS would wait...

    Are trades in an IRA reported? (EVER?)

    IRAs are treated exclusively as personal income sources. The income is taxed only when distributions are taken, and the IRS does not care how the money got into the account. They only care how much you take out of it. As fas as my understanding goes, there is no such thing as a marginable...

    Would anyone wish to share a 1 minute chart Strategy

    I'm not trying to scare anyone off. I simply coded Ripley's strategy based on his description of the buy and sell orders. If you follow his logic and had taken the trades over the past two years in the YM, you would have lost several hundred thousand dollars. Plain and simple. There is no...

    Would anyone wish to share a 1 minute chart Strategy

    I coded Ripley's idea very quickly in EasyLanguage to see if it would work: // Start Code Variables: TickValue(0), MP(0), SellStop(0), CoverStop(0); TickValue = MinMove / PriceScale; MP = MarketPosition; If MP = 0 Then Begin Buy ("LE") Next Bar at H + TickValue Stop...

    just a slight futures tip..

    Another reason why futures are not for very small money. There is strong correlation between IWM and ER2 as well as SPY and ES, just to name two stock index futures. However, minimum tick value for ER2 or ES is $10 / $12.50, where as you can take much smaller size in the ETFs. Just another...
