PG; i don't understand what you mean by upgraded. Also where would the Netscape java plugin come from ?

PG; in Explore; java plugin Applet Store it says 1.3.1_02 then under JAR it says a very long number

Under Java (sun) that is checked. Under Microsoft Virtual Machine the Java console and the Jave logging are NOT checked

PG I don't see current version anywhere

PG in Regedit under Java plug ins I find 1.4.0_01

PG I looked at internet options in the browser and the advanced tab. The only theing checked other than the JRE is JIT virtual machine etc.

PG; registry does not show anything relating to JAVA. hkey_LOCAL_MACHINE I HIGHLIGHTED IT AND THE RIGHT SIDE DIALOG BOX SAYS " DEFAULT.............NO VALUES SET.

Puffygums; I'm using IE 5.5 SP2 and my Sun Java is 1.4.0_01 that I recently downloaded from the IB site.

Nope, I can't claim that is the reason.

Tried again with same result but a new twist. Now the IB home page freezes and I have to Control-Alt-Delete to shut it down. Only their web page is having a problem

Here's a little more info; When i click on run equities demo the login starts to fill and the message just above it reads " loading class jclient.login frame. Once the :button" has filled a light blue it then says ;" exception.java.langclass not found.exception;"

def; Thanks much. I did download the Java from IB demo page and have contacted tac at IB. so far no luck. Also no 3com net card. I'll keep trying.

I have jave enabled in browser; Have no J-trader on machine. Have waited up to 30 minutes for something to happen. It takes about 8 minutes for the login button to fill in.
