    The Movie Thread

The Gambler, with James Caan. Traders should like it, like when Caan, having won tons, tells the Caesars blackjack dealer to give him "the 3," which he does, making Caan's 21.

Which Broker/ECN are you WINNING with??

The fx retailers don't like the traders sometimes referred to as pickers, snipers, or scalpers because those traders potentially can cost them the profit systematically embedded in the quotes the retailers push to their customers' PCs. The profit is created by pricing algorithms which exploit...

Is it possible to trade a small FOREX account up to $100 Million?

Wiser words never spoken. I'll take moonbeams, pixie dust, and fx retailers any day.

I'm betting on it. But my sense is that it's more of highwire act than usual, with more soft US data possible this week. "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger." That might prove true for the USD after today.

Early, presumably thin, trade tonight bit off another chunk of distance to my stop. I'm very tempted to add another short at this level and stretch my stop on all three to .008745. Reason? If carry trade is sputtering out, soft US data today should have pushed near month YEN above .008700...

Soft US data today, coming after short entered last night, filled slightly more than 40 percent of the distance to my stop.

I shouldn't think a person as "inside" as you appear to want would play giveaway with his or her edge. Would you?

No, the opposite. Last December, at the USD high, I thought the carry trade had oversold the YEN, which proved correct. All of the factors apparent at that time for the carry trade were past fully priced in. But the carry trade has powerfully bid the USD for 9 or 10 months, and I don't see...

I agree, so much so that I'm shorting (this session) the near month YEN future, expecting it to trade to or below .008500 this week or next. Shorting next month YEN (June) is even better in my view, because I believe Fed will go higher than two quarters to five. My shorts may suffer some...

Is it possible to trade a small FOREX account up to $100 Million?

Let's see if I get it: all anyone reading this thread needs to win a million bucks at fx is the "right broker" (defined as one that accepts mini accounts), a thousand bucks, and the right karma. This is just more of the same moon-beam, dreams-of-riches pixy dust the fx retailers sprinkle...

    Interest Free forex brokerages?

What risks arise from (1) sending your money to Marketiva, and (2) buying or selling currency quotes it sends to its customers' PCs? I assume you've looked into those questions.

    Broker Horror Stories??

I know from my own experience with a prominent fx retailer that a retailer need not fill limits reached or breached by a quote that triggers the stops of customers who've bet the other way. Simply tell the limit customers the price is a misquote while pocketing the stops. Meanwhile, as for...

You can search the records of the State of Ohio Secretary of State to find out if these fellas registered themselves as a business in Ohio, and/or if they organized the business in Ohio. There is a comment earlier in the thread about an office in Ohio. (From what you've said, I kinda doubt...

Refco FX Clients, here we go again!!!!

Does this mean RefcoFX won’t be restoring the Complete Safety of Funds page to its website? I ask because I’d read in another, older thread in this forum that FXCM’s offer to make the RefcoFX customers whole was a “done deal,” a sure thing, in the bag, all good, and so on.

Refco FX Clients, here we go again!!!!

I'm surprised this development hasn't generated more interest. Not long ago, the question whether RefcoFX customers would be made good was ET's equivalent of a steel cage match.

Bernanke speaks, carry trades revive, dollar resumes strength vs yen. And this from Reuters overnight: “Toyota Motor Corp. gains 3.2 percent to 6,520 yen, hitting life-time highs for the fourth time in five sessions. . . As of Thursday, Toyota's market capitalisation stood at $193.5...

What do you think about marketiva?

I tend to agree. For one thing, my rule of thumb is never send cash to a company in a country where: 1) the head of government is a Generalissimo or President for Life, or 2) something edible, bananas for example, is the chief export. But that's just me.

Between trips to Sam's Club to lay in canned soup and other provisions for my bunker, I also ponder that this semi hocus pocus that preserves strength in a fundamentally weakening dollar furthers and preserves Wall Street's cozy opportunities overseas. What's good for Geely (or Toyota) is good...

All day, from the moment I get up until my head hits the pillow at night, I wonder at the minute-by-minute, day-by-day dilution of value of the dollars in my wallet. I look at them at sunrise and just know, according to immutable laws, that they're worth less by bedtime -- the result of our...
