    Ivan's Trade Thread

It is really oversold, but I'll see how it plays out. Just wondering, do you have it at the trendline from mid-march? Oanda's charts say USD/JPY is right on it, and TOS and Prophet charts say we've broken.

    Ivan's Trade Thread

I'm long USD/JPY from 107.13. Looks like it found some support around 107. My stop at 106.95. Not sure about profit targets. Look like it could up to 107.60 or so.

Which pair is the best for day trading?

It depends on your broker and the spreads you get. In general I would say stay with the tightest spreads

    Naked Short Question

Of course it's going to be more complicated. The average volume is about 20,000 shares a day. It's not popular, not a lot of people own it, therefore it's harder to find people to borrow the shares from. I guess I still don't understand why you're bothering with the ETF if you're short the...

    Naked Short Question

I have no idea about your question. I'm just wondering why you are making this so complicated? You're selling a call to get assigned stock of a very low volume ETF that tracks the peso? If you're bearish why not just sell the peso? The commissions would be less, the liquidity would...

To get rich trading you MUST manage other people money?

In some of the interviews in market wizards the traders say that managing other people's money is like a call option. They have limited downside and unlimited upside, as long as they don't trade all their personal money

    Facebook Trade

Come on, you answered your own question already. It's a private company, you can't trade it. Or else you buy a bunch of different public companies because they *might* buy facebook. And even if Microsoft bought facebook, why would you buy Microsoft? Any public company able to afford...

Gold is going to get hammered

I think it's interesting that I was to short the GLD on 3/18 and 3/19 on TOS, but now it's "Hard to Borrow"

    Dividend risk

I'm looking to buy a May put on a stock which has a dividend soon. When I pull the order up in TOS it shows max loss followed by "plus dividend risk". How exactly does that work?

I have to agree with Cramer and sell all techs

I agree. Everything is the same for apple as it was back in early '06. And we know stocks just do the same thing over and over... And let's just ignore the massive consolidation around 120 with that big rounded bottom

Deciding when to take profits (I let most of my winners turn into losers)

Don't set tick to a tick chart. It doesn't move frequently so you'll end up with 5 candles after a day and it won't be useful. Tick charts are nice in high volume stocks to see movement. But not for indicators. Just set the tick to 5 minutes. You want to see the market sentiment for a certain...

Deciding when to take profits (I let most of my winners turn into losers)

Here you go https://trading.scottrade.com/TouchToneGuide/Available_Indicators.htm nyse tick is "ntick", nasdaq tick is "qtick" Those are good measure of market sentiment. For the most part ntick should work well for YM and qtick for NQ. There is also TIKI. That is the up/down tick...

Deciding when to take profits (I let most of my winners turn into losers)

It's the NYSE tick. It's showing buying and selling. You can see in the morning the tick couldn't get below 600 which shows there wasn't much selling interest. Here are some links. It's a really tool for intra-day trading http://www.researchlabtrading.com/public/434.cfm?sd=2 And...

    Is thinkorswim down?

You can read reviews at the 'brokers' link at the top of the page. I really like them. They send out alerts when they are having any problems. They also have TOS charts and prophet charts. The data comes from two difference providers so if one is one there is usually a backup. Yeah...
