    Why don't Americans save?

Well here goes.. you may go ahead and shoot me if you like.....I might sound like some kook living in a hut in Montana. There is a pervasive sense of entitlement in this country. Yes, there are a few savers here and there, but the more prevalent attitute is: I'm entitled to my job...

Why not use a web cam for legitamcy?

What an interesting idea. Along the same lines, there are now competitions for pianists that require youtube submission instead of submitting a CD. The clip must show your hands as you play the pieces.

Poll: Do you trust any of the "experts" anymore?

My vote is "the same" because.... I never trusted them in the first place.

    Madoff's $50 billion is a LIE

Perhaps this will convince some of my buy-and-hold friends with financial advisors that there is no way to evaluate which of these people can be trusted. While I am sure that many of them are trustworthy, I am just saying that there is no practical way for the investor to find out who is okay...

    What's your favorite bird?

This question is for premium sellers. There are a number of butterfly and condor traders posting here. Which type of position do you favor, and why? Mary

Best method for graphing multileg positions?

Wow, thanks, that's what I want! Free is the best price.

Best method for graphing multileg positions?

I need a way to graph positions that will show me the situation on any day I choose--not just today or at expiration. I use IB, and I don't want to change my trading platform. Also, I'm not very techie, so I want something pretty simple, not something with ten thousand bells and whistles that...

    Sell Puts

That has been a good play of late. Perhaps will evaporate with the fall in vol.

How do holds work when selling naked options?

Can you explain a bit about what you mean by holds? Do you refer to margin? And what instruments are you trading?

Volatility implosion. So whats the outlook

Hi Shorts, I bet that it will return. Maybe we will have a little holiday quiet period. Then the new administration will come in and start saying things that swing the market hundreds of points this way or that. There is no growth, no lending, no jobs, no consumer confidence, no nothing...

    Best options trading book?

It is lack of money management that wipes people out.

    JL Lord's Book

I appreciate all the comments so far. I wonder if it does have something to do with Optionetics (needless to say I want nothing to do with them, and while they may be legitimate, I would never put money in their pocket). If the book is indeed their product, either secretly or not, this...

    JL Lord's Book

I am curious about Lord's book on collars. I don't want to pay his astronomical price. Anyone able/willing to summarize it for me? thanks Mary

    Best options trading book?

Greg, I highly recommend both of McMillan's books. It was these books that allowed me to finally make some money. One is not a repeat of the other--they contain different material. Options as a Strategic Investment is a tome that contains info on just about every kind of options trade...

    Position sizing for premium sellers

Position sizing on market neutral strategies should be looked at with reference to your entire portfolio. Keep in mind that if 1987 happens again (and this year was just a slow-mo version of it--I'm talking about a huge move in one day or overnight) it will wipe out every condor/fly that...

    Good books on option selling?

I recommend McMillan's books. They are written in very clear language. Also agree with the poster who recommended CBOE free videos. Mary

    Volitility Trading

Yes, there is a way to isolate volatility. Read McMillan on Options. He explains this in detail. It can require a lot of margin and is an advanced strategy.

How good your market neutral credit spread strategy ?

Hi Mark, Thanks so much for your thoughtful and generous responses on this forum. I have ordered your book. I am an iron butterfly trader these days, and am wondering why you have a preference for ICs as opposed to IBs. Regards, Mary

Do all brokers charge $1.50 like Interactive Brokers to modify an option?

I don't think they charge you if it is not filled. If it is not filled and you cancel, it though, they do charge you. And since modifying an order is essentially a form of cancelling it, I suppose that is their logic. I agree that it would be nice if they were a little more up front about it.

Do all brokers charge $1.50 like Interactive Brokers to modify an option?

Execution is more important than the little stuff like cancellation fees. You won't have to modify your orders that much if execution is good.
