    Black Monday

There has been MUCH MUCH more money lost by people who closed out their longs on Friday in fear of another Black Monday and bought back later than was ever lost by those who were long on Black Monday.

    Trading futures at IB (Wheat)

I noticed that wheat futures on the CBOT are not tradeable on IB. That seems strange to me as it is a liquid market tradeable on E-CBOT with lots of volume similar to corn and soybeans which are available on IB. Any ideas when and if it will be available to trade on IB?

    Tradestation credit interest rate

8.4M in a quarter! Thats over 33M a year they are making off that interest spread between what they earn in money market/T-bills and the 1.125% that they pay out. They probably make even more than that because short term interest rates have been rising since the beginning of last quarter...

    Tradestation credit interest rate

The TS platform is $100/month, not $250/month. Also, IB charges nothing for their Trader Workstation. And I'm speaking for daytraders who have to have at least $25K in their account, but more realistically need at least $50k or $100k to trade effectively. Thats $1500 to $3000 per year...

    Tradestation credit interest rate

I think a lot of traders are totally oblivious about the interest they collect in their TS accounts, otherwise TS would be losing accounts in droves. Interestingly, most traders are very much aware of $.001/share higher commissions when obviously the interest has a much bigger effect on the...

    Tradestation credit interest rate

Actually, Ameritrade offers a money market sweep, you just have to inquire about it and sign up for it. I don't know of any brokerage firm that offers less credit interest than Tradestation, and Tradestation has many of the most sought after accounts because they have mostly active traders...

    Tradestation credit interest rate

I wonder if there are other traders who notice how much money TS is robbing them by paying 1.125% interest when Fed funds rates are at 5% and rising. Not to mention the fees for the software if you don't trade 25,000 shares/month or 10 futures contracts/month. Also, commissions are higher...

    Tradestation credit interest rate

Tradestation credit interest rate on balances over $10,000 is 1.125%! That's highway robbery!! To compare, IB pays 4.55% (LIBOR-0.50%) over $10,000. On a balance of $100,000, thats $3,082 LESS interest that you get paid by Tradestation than IB. So for daytraders, who end the day flat...

IB reminds me of Etrade in its early days

Comparing IB to E-Trade is like comparing a Ferrari to a Pinto. E-Trade, even in its infancy, was never as customer friendly as IB. E-Trade was never that great, IB has maintained its high level of service while getting much bigger.
