Is a great trader just a trader who finds a great strategy?

A good trader is a trader who finds a great strategy or great system. He is a loser without it. That doesn't make for a great trader, when that strategy loses effectiveness, the guy is just another average trader. A great trader doesn't need a strategy. He can look back into his past...

Boring US stock market presents future opportunity

Trading days are real slow, a trader has to expand beyond just the US equity market in order to find action. Emerging markets and commodities are where the volatility have moved to. Crude oil and the Hang Seng are very tradeable these days.

Official China Turd Index: Sucker's Sixteen

Those quotes are wrong. Marketwatch doesn't know how to quote IPOs. The stock closed at $28.00 on Friday. The stock opened the day at $35.00, that was the open, not yesterday's close price. It states that it was up $1.19 to $29.19 according to their after hours quotes.

Dell PC... Upgrade From XP Home to XP Pro

I also hope that Vista is quickly replaced just like WinME was, but often times we're at the mercy of the public, if they gear everything towards Vista, we're going to have to have Vista.

Boring US stock market presents future opportunity

For those that have traded since the 1990s, the stock market from the beginning of 2004 to right before the summer of this year was maybe the most boring market we've ever seen. The lack of action makes internet surfing more exciting than trading. Things finally changed this summer but...

Official China Turd Index: Sucker's Sixteen

The market is always right, always efficient, let's not question any of these moves and their sustainability, yield to the action at all times. Thinking ahead is wrong, never fight a trend. Any more trading truisms I haven't covered? Oh yeah, Bubbles are like diamonds, forever........blah...

Why RIMM and AAPL are long term shorts

What was Microsoft's market cap in 1986? 60 Billion? 140 Billion? You think a 60 billion market cap company can sport a 3.5 trillion market cap in our lifetime? Maybe if Bernanke keeps things up, but it will be in Weimar regime conditions.

Why RIMM and AAPL are long term shorts

Everyone is a bull on these stocks, I got no fundamental replies except trading truisms like shorting is a suicide pact, etc., I think we're gonna be descending a wall of hope soon on these names.

China has a booming economy, everyone knows that. But what does that have to do with crappy stocks in China that are going up 200% in a week on daytrader hype?

Why RIMM and AAPL are long term shorts

Both RIMM and AAPL are long term shorts. Starting with a small short position at these prices and scaling in will make you money in the long run. I'm talking 1-3 years. Not holding for a week or 2. I'm talking long term short positions, not daytrading or swingtrading short these members of...

Dell PC... Upgrade From XP Home to XP Pro

Why do you need XP Pro? For the extended support beyond the next 2 years? For $149, I don't think so. Does anyone really need XP extended support? Most if not all of the extra features of XP Pro are worthless. In 2 years, won't it just be better to buy a new computer with a more battled...

    China stocks are toppy here

My point is that if you have proper money management, it doesn't matter. If you trade with stops and cut losses, there is limited downside on the short side as well. The astute trader is never there to see his position goes against him to infinity, or to zero. He's already cut his loss...

    China stocks are toppy here

Its all price action, and sentiment is also a factor. But there are unsustainable movements in the market in the short term, and people don't know how to discriminate between an overvalued overbought crap stock and an overvalued overbought growth stock. I would not dare call a top on BIDU...

Official China Turd Index: Sucker's Sixteen

Market up huge and the China Turd index down about 4% on the day. BTW, the FXI was up big today. I don't think you can hedge these turds with the FXI, there isn't that much of a correlation between the two on a day to day basis and most of these turds are just daytrader plays that will be worn...

Supply is increasing every day, the past couple of days has seen so-called major exchange "IPOs" into the AMEX, if you can call the AMEX a major exchange, lol. Also, tomorrow there is the China Digital TV Holding IPO on NYSE. Also, many of the insiders will start cashing out soon after the...
