    IB improvements

    > One of the few things that seem cumbersome with TWS is > actually issuing trades. You have to click on the bid/ask, adjust > prices, then right-click and select transmit. You can setup a hotkey for transmit. (Settings->Hot Keys...) I use spacebar. So I click a bid/ask, adjust prices, then...

IB: slow order entry today...anybody else?

I have had an ongoing month-long problem with JTWS where the quotes keep freezing for short periods (5-10 seconds) almost every minute. So far, the only suggestion by IB support is that it is a network problem. However, I have two different ISPs with different routes that have the same...

    Can't log into IB today 9/27/01? 10:21am

I have no problem logging into JTWS or going to www.interactivebrokers.com. Try running a traceroute (www.visualroute.com has a 30 day free trial) www.interactivebrokers.com (206.106.137.3) for the website gw3.ibllc.com (208.245.107.5) for the JTWS server Fleance

    IB Communiqué Sept 21,2001

I agree that profit/loss on open positions is preferred. However, I would like to be able to see cumulative P &L also. One solution is to make the P&L column header a toggle similar to the Symbol/Underlying column. Clicking on the P&L column would toggle between Open P&L and Tot P&L. Fleance

IB: slow order entry today...anybody else?

I have been having my quotes/orders freeze for the past 3-4 weeks, after having almost zero problems since Feb 2001. My internet route to IB is Pacbell -> sprintlink -> TimberHill (11 hops). I posted addl info on this thread a couple pages back. The past couple days I tried a differnt ISP...

IB: slow order entry today...anybody else?

I also have been using CyberX without any problems the past couple weeks while IB has been freezing on me. I think their system architecture may be better than IB because they have separte quote servers and trader servers. (In CyberX if you click on MENU you can get the IP addresses for both...

IB: slow order entry today...anybody else?

I have been having a similar problem with JTWS the past several weeks. I had been exchanging emails with IB's support but they have not been much help. BACKGROUND: I am located on the west coast. I have a DSL account with Pacific Bell. I used VisualRoute to trace the packets from my...

IB TWS freeze problem on BEST_ECN route?

Today the JTWS is acting terrible again, starting to remind me of qcharts... The quotes for BEST_ECN and BEST keep freezing, many of my BEST_ECN orders are stuck in BLUE status for 10-15 seconds.. I checked the Program Files/jts/log.txt file to see what server I was connecting to...

IB TWS freeze problem on BEST_ECN route?

Hello, I have been using IB for the past 4 months, initially as a backup to CyberCorp but now all the time once they added the BEST_ECN route. I have been experiencing some performance problems with the BEST_ECN route off and on, but esp. today. Often on MSFT and QCOM, the BEST_ECN best...

    Windows 2000 or Windows XP

I have been using Windows 2000 for over 1 year now about 8 hours per day running charting and trading applications, and so far the Operating System has not crashed once on me. The applications have crashed, but it didn't affect the other applications or crash the OS. Windows 2000 has had two...

    IB Layout

I believe Save Settings only preserves the list of contracts on each page, not any of the column settings. I just upgraded to the latest build, and now resizing the columns is even more annoying!! Since I only trade stocks with BEST_ECN route, I normally resize the contract column to only...

    IB Best-ECN is a joke

    IB Best-ECN is a joke

Unfortunately, IB has not documented the algorithm that BEST_ECN uses, so it is hard to speculate what the problem might be. There was a discussion in the thread "How Good is BEST" (65 messages). One theory was that IB's BEST_ECN does not use IOC (Immediate Or Cancel) orders when routing...

how to play this rate cut?

I was one of those that made 20%+ on Jan 3rd.. mid six figures.. It could be a long while before I ever eclipse that one-day mark... I was very fortunate because I was watching about 30 charts of NASDAQ leaders right when the cut was announced and everything jumped 1-2 points almost...

    New IB Webpage

Steve, I have useability issues with the JTWS software, but I love the tabular user model which allows you to setup multiple orders. The order entry could be streamlined, esp. for people which just trade US stocks. And the position management is horrible compared to other direct access...

    How Good is BEST

jperl, Are you using market orders with BEST_ECN ? I am wondering if BEST_ECN behaves differently with market vs limit orders. I have only been using limit orders with BEST_ECN. I have had situations where the order was not getting filled, so I cancelled it. So far, after about 500...

    TWS software : what lacks...

On another thread, I have already listed a large number of requests related to order entry and position management. After using IB for another month, here my current thoughts. Order entry is very important for people that play news plays, or watch for technical setups in large numbers of...
