    Questions for Tradestation users

I have been using TradeStation for some time, in automated trades, as well as discretionary, and I had no problems trading stocks. I never used it for futures or forex. To be honest, I don't understand what is your complaint at 1. The platform triggered a buy market order, and you got filled at...

Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein Named Financial Times Person Of The Year

No matter how it works, it's almost laughable that the den of thieves, Bernanke and Blankfein, made it to the covers of time and ft. The only thing missing is the cross hairs.

Goldman Bundled Bad Debt, Bet Against It and Won

The problem goes deeper than a crooked rating agency giving repackaged junk AAA ratings. It all starts, and I am amazed that a lot of very articulate people around here miss that entirely, with government trying to play the paternalistic role more than necessary (read Milton Friedman for more...

Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

I though it would be fun to post a graph of neke's compounded returns, based on weekly percentages, from 2008 to 2009. Initial account value was 100,000. Amazing job Neke! Enjoy!

    Six-Figure Federal Salary Gravy Train

While there is some justification for the government getting involved in large scale projects, like highways and power plants, most of the time government grants and subsidies will just create a vicious cycle, and negatively affect private businesses and economy in general. I suggest you read...

Taking 320K to 3.5million by Year End 2009

retaildaytrader, I have backtested your "strategy" for the last 10 years: buy the first day of november, and sell the first day of may. I used a fixed 300,000 account (Neke's amount at the beginning of the year), and no compounding or margin, and here are the annualized results: AAPL: 9.33% +...

Let the hoarding begin: India buys half the IMFs gold for sale

Could it be that the purchasing power of the dollar went down?

Cash for Clunkers - funny point of view (not mine)

From a real "Car Guy" out in Los Angeles, CA. ______________________________________________________________ So, you took FEDZILLA up on its offer of $4500. dollars to trade in your old "Clunker" (interesting choice of words)? Well, let's see who got the best of that "deal"... If...

Why do student loan companies exist

Lending money requires an infrastructure that government doesn't have and should not have. The fact that government backstops these loans is all too sad, and unfortunately a new trend that creates a moral hazard.

    Backtesting question

It works like this: you set up a daily bar chart and add a strategy. In the properties of the strategy there is an option for intra-bar lookup. When you set it, you also specify the intra-day interval, in minutes. Let's say you pick 1 minute. When the strategy generates one or more orders...

    Backtesting question

TradeStation, and I assume other software packages too, can be set up to look inside a bar, to decide if an order placed on the previous bar has been hit. This will solve your resolution problem, but I would put the extra effort to program the entire strategy at intra-day level.

Geithner: Your taxes are going up because Goldman has to get their bonus

OK, I am just going to say this and I will stop, as I don't want to polimicize with you: Maybe GS and the other AIG third parties didn't want a direct infusion of money, because they will have to repay it. By taking the AIG route (which at the time was bankrupt, and in no position to respect...

Geithner: Your taxes are going up because Goldman has to get their bonus

By the way, the count stopped at 11 minutes. Pretty fast.

Geithner: Your taxes are going up because Goldman has to get their bonus

I don't particularly disagree with the points you are making. We all know business is a mix of who and what you know, with a little dose of what you do, but there is something that seems to be at the core of every debate about GS recently. It is how they benefited of government's bailout of AIG...

Geithner: Your taxes are going up because Goldman has to get their bonus

I'm just doing this for the fun of it. I will just mention Goldman Sachs in this post, see how long it will take asiaprop to jump on it. Counting...

El-Erian raided the ATM when Lehman collapsed: And they tell you things are OK

Look at all those happy faces and their fancy job titles. I like Anne's the most: Amy Brinkley - Former chief risk officer of Bank of America Barbara Byrne - former vice chairman of Lehman Brothers Lori Fife - Partner at Weil Gotshal & Manges, Lehman's law firm Anne Erni - Former...

Let's Talk About How Goldman Makes Money; 1 in 6 in USA Unemployed or Underemployed

You forgot to mention that a week before, GS has paid the kindergarten to take a one month tour of Europe, and that they actually own the small business next door, and sent everyone on a one month, all paid for, golf outing, so even if the customer happened to drive by on a Monday, the picture...

Let's Talk About How Goldman Makes Money; 1 in 6 in USA Unemployed or Underemployed

I would not be worried about the consumers. They, and their kids, will pay it back to the hilt in the next 50 years. As for GS, they did not do anything illegal indeed, but they sure profited by all the government bailouts and guarantees, and they made sure are well positioned to collect...
