    Junk bond trading with IB

That bond isn't quite a junk bond, is it? Probably kind of difficult to do without being a firm offering quotes/receiving requests for quotes etc. but maybe so idk. There's always money to be made of course.

why CHK got crushed at the last hour everyday?

I see it played out a couple hours early today, but nonetheless, get on it! lol

why CHK got crushed at the last hour everyday?

crushed in the last hour almost everyday...looks like you might have found something to trade. Granted by the time you start trading it, it will usually be over with basically. Sometimes not the case though.

Jesus man, the whole month's profits in a day. SLOW down or take off risk. That seems a bit excessive, don't you think? I've been there before and I'm sure you will just keep at it like normal despite what everybody says, but take it easy or you will regret leveraging up that much. Have you...

The War On Paper Currency Officially Begins: ECB Ends Production/Issuance Of EU500 Bill

I doubt he is talking about a $50k car purchase lol. Buying used cars in cash typically gets one a better deal or at least that has been my experience as well, so I can second @Zr1Trader . I sold my wife's used car for cash a couple months ago. I had an offer of about $250 more if I would wait...

    ES Journal - 2016

Lol I was just thinking that sounded like Anekdoten/Autodidact. @Iron.Maiden did AD show you the light on all this stuff? I remember some of your early posts talking with him and him showing you his signals. Unless of course you are him....lol

I agree, definitely got out a bit early on them. Looking to enter again tomorrow potentially depending on if we open up or not.

Nice! I took off my puts this morning for a nice gain. Added to an SPXS position though on the pullback to the 60 area this afternoon. Flat everything else currently

Start moving money out daily/weekly as you make it and pay down your loan. I've been here before man, (minus funding with the loan). You will feel on top of the world and take a ton of risk...then a couple bad days and you will get absolutely hammered. Best decision I made when taking on a lot...

    Puerto Rico Bonds

I tried looking up a bit on them awhile back, but really wasn't too familiar with it all then. Are there any specific bonds you are looking at? Supposedly quite a few hedge fund/vulture funds were taking part in some of the action. Not sure what kind of discounts everything is trading at currently

Republicans don't understand Economics and it is killing the country

If you think you are overpaying for insurance, get in touch with someone at a broker and let them shop rates for you. I work for a broker but we specialize in mid market commercial accounts, but I have a buddy that works for another smaller broker and he was able to match/improve my coverage for...

    Distressed Debt Investing

Yep that's correct. I've limited my risk to a pretty small portion on the more speculative plays. FCX I put a bit more into but I considered that a very solid play and more of just a normal distressed play. The rest I've kept to a very small percentage. I've made enough on the other plays that...

    Distressed Debt Investing

Well, take it for what it is. FCX, US Steel, CHK I would consider my plays there more distressed investing. But sure you can call buying debt of companies in very difficult times that you think either might survive or you might get enough of a recovery to make your money back plus more gambling...

    Distressed Debt Investing

Ok another update. I had $5k of BTU bonds that I bought for about 4 cents on the dollar. Sold $3k of them this morning for 10.5 and going to leave the remaining $2k on to see how bankruptcy plays out. So i've covered my costs + 50% gain and then will let the rest ride. With that being said, I...

    Converting preferred into common

Can anybody fill me in on how one goes about converting convertible preferred shares into common? I couldn't find any details on IB. I am 99.9% sure there is something that will keep this from working, but a companies preferred shares are trading at a discount to their conversion # of shares...

Beginners are not permitted to buy spreads?

If you said you don't have experience, then that is pretty normal. Once you know what you are doing, just apply to have your trading permissions increased so you can do spreads. They will ask you the same experience questions....have a better answer than what you used the first go round lol.

    The ACD Method

Yeah, well I'm in agreement there as well lol. I've been dumping the majority of my stocks over the past couple days across all my accounts. I'm taking the majority of the risk off in equities as I am just having a hard time justifying the market going much higher (for fundamental reasons at least).

    The ACD Method

Glad to see your indicator confirming. I was really debating on getting long vol through vix futures or just simply buying VXX right before the close today, but I was thinking we might get a little push back up tomorrow. I'm hoping we open up a bit in the morning and I will be looking to enter...

I predict SPX to go up 5% or down 5%, can I benefit from this?

Buy a call and put near at the money, then sell a call and a put 5% away or at your estimated target. Should decrease your cost, help on theta, etc. won't get nearly as much selling 5% away but nonetheless. Edit: Just priced SPX, $75ish for a spread 100pts both ways at the money. Going to prove...
