    Poker and the Beginning Trader

Thanks Kempo, I'm glad that they sent you the money per your requests. That's a good start. I still need to prove these things to myself, but it certainly helps my confidence to hear that you have done this before. I know there are many poor poker players out there, and it may be possible...

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

Kempo, Have you experienced any difficulties withdrawing winnings from the site? I'm getting ready to start with real cash. I looked at Planetpoker.com, but there weren't enough players there. I like Paradise Poker quite a bit. What's your handle at Paradise? I'm Bankedout, the same...

    Has anyone traded these contracts?

In looking through some intraday charts on the contracts, I had to put some of them on the scrap heap. The 10 year T-Note, Mini Eurodollar, E-Mini Euro FX, and the E-Mini Japanese Yen are too illiquid for me to use even in longer term trading. It looks like I will have to open some other...

    What do you call yourself?

Capitalist is a good description. I'm an upholder of capitalism. I also own a business outside of my trading, and people often ask me what that involves. I never have an accurate answer for them. Capitalist is vague enough to cover both my trading and business activities. Banker

    Has anyone traded these contracts?

Thanks Def, I will keep my eye on them for a while. I don't need as much liquidity as ES or NQ. Banker

    Has anyone traded these contracts?

It's probably a little late for this, but if you look at the NYMEX website's information about their e-miNY Oil and Gas contracts: "The contracts are 40% of the size of the standard-sized contracts and are financially settled at the settlement price of the world's two most actively traded...

    Has anyone traded these contracts?

Babak, I agree, some of these markets do trend really well over time. In addition, it's rather difficult or impossible to gain exposure to some of these areas using equities. Gold and silver aren't that tough, you can always buy some mining stocks. How do you capitalize on the Yen from the...

    Has anyone traded these contracts?

That's too bad. I was hoping they had some liquidity to them. I might trade them anyway. I would enter on limit, but without liquidity I would be concerned about placing exit stops. I wasn't planning on trading any size which would create a forced liquidation situation. These items seem...

    Has anyone traded these contracts?

I was looking through what types of futures I could trade with my IB account. I came up with some mini sized futures contracts that I might be interested in trading. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried them out. My intentions are to hold overnight, but I am still concerned about liquidity...

Where do the money come from ? if yu don't know

Traden4Alpha, I enjoyed reading your last post, and agree with much of what you have said. I did bring up the strong longer term chart of Gold, and since then I have stumbled across another one. The Euro, as a currency. The Euro appears to be in a Bull market. I guess there are other...

    Any commodity/soybeans traders around?

Speaking of Bull Markets... Go to: http://stockcharts.com/ and use $XEU as a symbol to make a weekly chart. Nice. Sorry it's a little off topic, but I couldn't help it. Banker Edit: Use "Chart Size:" Wide and "Duration:" Fill the chart

    Any commodity/soybeans traders around?

Do you have a long term chart of wheat? All I can find is a Spring Wheat March 2003 chart dating back to mid November 2001. I see a huge run up from about the 310 level to just about 520 This occurred from roughly June to September of this year. Since then it has declined rather sharply...

    Shorting OiL

OIH is an exchange traded fund. I don't know how closely it mirrors oil prices though. ETF's have some nice benefits. They help to insulate you from company specific news, and also can be shorted on down ticks. Banker

Where do the money come from ? if yu don't know

Traden4Alpha, LOL "creme of the crap", that's a good one. Maybe it was a typo. I can see foreign investors thinking that way though. Confidence is definitely a problem. The low interest rate environment helps to fuel that problem in my mind. When you can go out and buy furniture etc...

Where do the money come from ? if yu don't know

A house of cards! Surely you are jesting ;o) What are your thoughts on the current levels of Government debt (Federal, State, Local), Corporate debt, and Consumer debt in the United States? Have you noticed that Gold has been steadily rising on the weekly charts? Maybe some folks are...

    Why actively trade ETFs?

Why did you start your BBH trend line where you did? Why didn't you start it at a different spot on the chart? I guess it doesn't really matter, since I don't use point and figure charts. Good luck to you, Banker

    Why actively trade ETFs?

If the Dow implodes, would you be fairly compensated for the risk you took, in your mind? Do you deal in longer term options when you are betting in a longer term way? Why not buy puts? Thanks for the explanation. Banker

    Why actively trade ETFs?

big_jdez, What makes the trend lines you have drawn "valid"? Why did you draw them where you did as opposed to somewhere else on the chart(s)? Banker

    Why actively trade ETFs?

It must have taken a lot of guts to short at that point in time, with the daily chart chugging along in an upwards direction back then. I can see your reasoning in a longer term sense though. Thanks for pointing out your line on the charts for me. What's a credit spread? Banker

    Why actively trade ETFs?

Did you actually short DIA near 91? Where is the upper channel resistance on the daily chart? I enjoyed reading your November 26th post. Banker
