    OJ/ Coffee Random Musings

crivera The trade you are proposing is an iron butterfly right? I have looked into that kind of spread before but haven't been able to find out what the advantages/disadvantages are of using an iron fly compared to a regular fly. However I do agree that placing a 4 trade spread like...

    How do you trade?

Thanks everyone for the help so far. cdowis I like the idea of the calender spreads but have always thought they were to complex for a simple guy like me. Tell me though when you sell the front month option and buy the far out are you holding till expiration? How often when a market moves...

    How do you trade?

Just curious as to how most options traders on et trade. What products do you trade (stocks/futures)? How far out do you trade (front month options, further out options, etc)? Most common stratagies you use (arb, straddles, flies, verticals, etc)? Do you usually trade directionally or just trade...

    What's the best to trade?

Spreads man.......learn the fundamentals and seasonal patterns of any physical commodity out there and just trade the spreads. Also more forgiving than outright positions.

    sugar

Yeah sugar is deffinantly interesting. Im short some july 10.50 straddles and it is barely touching my downside profit range. Sugar is acting extremely weak but we seem to be holding these support levels around 950. We need a pop tomorrow for me to be extremely compfortable with my straddle...

No I think while you would be offsetting the loss above 16 and below 14 you would still be paying the premium to buy that 16 call and 14 put so it would still cost something......but im far from an options expert.

You think coffee is going to break below 130 within the next week of trading? It could happen but probably not imo. I guess thats why there is a market right lol! Yeah my breakevens on the corn is like 750-480 which given the fundamentals and technical picture it seems like a pretty damn...

    Youngtrader's Commodity Journal

Rtrader2525 Yeah when I looked at that spread I thought those had to be good....im only long 1 at 37 though.....probably should buy a few more. As far as that corn straddle goes man. You sell a call and sell a put at the same strike price. So you capture the premium on both the call and...

    Views from a Floor Trader...

I too am a fan of the long wheat trade. However Im not sure I would just flat out by the stuff. Im long a sep kc/chi wheat spread around 37 and look to add more on breaks. Looks like a good trade here. Also hearing there is a big commercial stopper in wheat that is adjusting the carry...
