IB: Hong Kong servers and Password Non-transmission

If SSL is enabled, it allows all communication and data between a browser and a server to be encrypted. If there is no SSL, your data is not encrypted. You opened up a chance someone snoops your network and read your unencryptd data. Think about it. Why is SSL available? If SSL were not...

    IB saving settings

I have the same problem. Sometimes IB gets disconnected due to its daily maintenence and when it reconnects, every ticker is gone out of a sudden. It is so frustrating. Trying to restore by previous xml settings file without any success. It would be great if there is a feature which can...

Anyone else w/open position due 2 zero notification from IB HKFE closing 4 typhoon?

It didn't catch us all of a sudden. HK Observatory provided a pre-warning saying that they may have to hoist No. 8 Typhoon signal on that day. As expected, it finally acted and hoisted the signal. Usually when you notice HK Observatory hoisted No. 3 Typhoon signal. You need to watch out. If...

Anyone else w/open position due 2 zero notification from IB HKFE closing 4 typhoon?

SWT is not really too corelated nor SGXNK. There is one which is highly correlate to HHI, and this is HSI. Unfortuntately it is closed too. :( I think your best bet is to hedge by the Asian futures. Just pick any one you think the best. Asian markets act roughly on the same way in these few...

Anyone else w/open position due 2 zero notification from IB HKFE closing 4 typhoon?

The typhoon 8 is officially announced at 14:30 (2:30pm). I received the notice about a few mins or so but from another brokerage (not IB). There is more than enough time for me to close trades. It is denfintely that the message was sent out and many brokerage received it shortly. However it...

Can someone help me on the IB commission problem?

I don't know much. But maybe it is (partly) due to its pro-rata calculation. It is explained here: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Interactive_Brokers&oldid=114578306#Commission_and_fees You don't get discounts for all contracts. Each tier of contracts are charged differently...

Which online brokers can I do international trades inexpensively?

I think the "interest charges" referred to is the interest receivable and payable: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Interactive_Brokers&oldid=114578306#Interest_rates Although they disclose somewhere in the sub-page, most people don't realise the full effect of it if you don't go...

tick by tick with Interactive brokers

Do you mean you can still use IB datafeed for market profile analysis (MarketDelta)? I don't think so. Your result will be skewed. Also IB tick has some technical problems (eg IB doesn't timestamp their ticks correctly, no backfeed etc.)

Message to IB: SGX Nikkei futures commission structure

What do you mean by "based on currency"? Please explain that bit. I think this problem can be easily solved if you add the minimum() function when calculating the unbundled price. For example, mimimum(unbundled price of 1st tier, bundled price * 95%) mimimum(unbundled price of 2nd tier...

tick by tick with Interactive brokers

No, IB does not have true tick-by-tick datafeed. It snapshots the price change every 0.2-0.3 second.

Why IB Staff does not explain the irrationalities of the commission structure? I don't see why it has to be configured in such a weird way.

Message to IB: SGX Nikkei futures commission structure

It is an "all-these-or-those" choice. Choose either unbundled or bundled plan as a whole. You can't pick either bundled or unbundled plan per product. If it were available, it would be fair. Now we need two accounts just to get rid of them. How stupid it is. I'm wondering why no IB staff...
