    For Directional traders

I wouldn't worry too much considering that you either made a small amount of money or hopefully broke even after commissions, chalk it up as a learning experience. As for the markets being choppy right now, I completely agree, I might suggest waiting to see a visible market direction prior to...

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

Added to my position today at $1.04. I'm still placing higher probability on upwards movement than down, but at this point it looks like the stock is still sorting itself out and deciding whether or not to continue to rally (I think that it will).

Generally speaking, I agree with you on that one. I currently tend to focus much more on lower priced stocks, but I definately do look at average volume before considering trading. As well, it's almost become a rule that I won't touch CND Venture exchange traded stocks (CND equivalent of the...

Not in anything else right now, though I'm monitoring CVQ.V (CV Tech, they make ColdFX) very closely, CVQ is kind of overbought right now though I think... Anyways, that said, LOUD is actually a stock that was on my watchlist from about a year ago when it did a really big run up in late...

    Bears had their chance

I'm not sure that I agree, specifically where the Nasdaq (QQQQs) are concerned. If you take a look at a 6 month chart, I see two 50% retraces since the current mid-term uptrend began late April 2005. My call would be to see QQQQs trading around $42 by early October.

Unfortunately it's not optionable, but as I mentioned in the stocks forum, LOUD recently caught my eye as another potential breakout candidate. Opened a partial position today at $1.01, chart is looking like a high probability breakout candidate to me.

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

I opened a partial position today at $1.01, LOUD was pretty stable today aside from the opening mark-up, pretty much settled down at the $1.00 mark on significantly lower volume than the big volume up day last Friday (Aug 26). Today was another in a series of higher bottoms, I'm hoping to see...

Value of Financial TV channels: CNBC, Bloomberg.

I used to watch Report on Business TV a great deal during the past year, but have gradually ended up narrowing that down to just a couple of shows: the Business News, and Squeezeplay. Generally speaking I think that the primary benefit of Business television is to watch the major news items...

Futures down big 06:08 PM EST

Somewhat off topic, but if all goes well, you'll be able to run pretty much any trading platform full speed on a Mac once Apple switches to Intel chips in 2006 (since VirtualPC won't need to emulate the processor).

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

I think that's a legitimate opinion, particularly if the stocks being posted are smaller cap, less liquid stocks.

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

Update on this - going to be monitoring LOUD (as well as the rest of the market) closely on Monday morning, this big hurricane news item could potentially suck the air out of the markets (if not worse).

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

Ah okay. So in other words the site was listing potential high-gain candidates, then patting themselves on the back when some of them came true? Getting back to discussion of LOUD, anyone else want to comment on what you would be looking for prior to entry?

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

What is a "wolf ticket"? Not familiar with the term.

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

Yup, in retrospect you were definately right about that one.

    LOUD - breakout candidate?

Since we now have a forum to discuss specific stocks, LOUD is currently on the top of my watchlist to monitor closely early next week. This is purely from a technical analysis perspective, but the stock is looking very strong, recovered very rapidly from what was perceived as disappointing...

    Any comments on AMD?

AMD is doing very nicely in the desktop and server markets, particularly the desktop enthusiast (i.e. gamer) category. They are gradually capturing marketshare from Intel over time, as well as offering very strong products. Another important thing is that AMD has traditionally competed with...

Video - Robert Schiller on the housing bubble

The link below will probably only be valid until the end of the weekend. Scroll down near the bottom to "7:00 PM ET - The Business News with Howard Green", the segment with Schiller starts at about 45:15 of the show. http://www.robtv.com/shows/past_archive.tv?day=wed The beginning of...

Boomers could crash the stock market:

This is actually a very valid point, something I've thought a bit about previously. I think that many savers seem to lose sight of the fact that mutual funds are based on investments in bonds, equities, etc. Money goes into the fund, they hopefully see some form of long-term capital...

Unfortunately there aren't too many hot babes in my finance classes, and I'm slowly running out of options credits (I have about 10 more classes left to finish my undergrad degree). Ah well. :p
