    zero sum game?????????????

I haven't read through this entire thread, but I think that the following would be true: Equity markets - not zero sum. Why? Dividends. There is a fixed float outstanding, but a publicly traded company can add value to equation just by issuing a dividend. Futures markets - zero sum. Why...

    Comments on INTC?

You raise a very good point, I am arguably trying to pick a bottom with INTC, though this is also a longer term play for me (I wouldn't have a problem holding until fall/winter).

    Comments on INTC?

This article actually sums up my reasons for buying some INTC shares. Particularly interesting to see the comparison of P/E ratios of AMD and Intel.

    Comments on INTC?

One thing I find interesting right now is some of the analyst talk about "further downside risks" faced by Intel. More specifically, some of the analysts are stating that Intel could face a price war with AMD. I honestly have to say that I have no clue where they came up with the concept...

Coughing up the $25k requirement for Pattern Day Trading

I think we must have seen the same infomercial, judging by the leverage I assume that you are referring to one of those forex trading systems. I was actually going to attend their seminar for fun to see how much they were trying to get people to pay for it. Of course, I have a dim view of forex...

    Comments on INTC?

Updated chart. I think this could potentially be the start of the breakout out of the downwards channel that I was waiting to see. <img src=http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=1017441>

Surprise Dell buys Alienware, high end box makers

My take on it is that Dell realizes that they are becoming a vendor that people primarily go to based one factor alone - cost (I'm more specifically referring to individual consumers). They have been dabbling a bit in the high end, high margin gaming segment with their XPS systems, and are...

Surprise Dell buys Alienware, high end box makers

I don't imagine that will last for very long, particularly if Conroe turns out to be as good as the preliminary benchmarks are showing. Prelim benchmarks for AMD's socket AM2 CPUs aren't looking that great either, very marginal differences between the new models and the old socket 939 CPUs.

    Comments on INTC?

It's been interesting watching INTC intraday while working on an assignment today, $19.81 or so appeared to be a fairly strong point of resistance for much of the day. INTC is now moving up a bit during the last 30 minutes of trading, we'll see if it can sustain any upwards momentum.

    Google Finance

I've been taking a quick look over Google Finance this evening, and I think that they are off to a good start, particularly with the charting. They ideally need more advanced charting (such as candlesticks), but I did like how they mapped out related news stories on the stock charts. I'm...

Ameritrade + TD Waterhouse = What Commissions?

It's a pity that TD Waterhouse Canada commissions aren't like those of their US counterpart. At least they are starting down the path to becoming more competitive...

    Housing Rolling Along 2

Thanks for the link. I think the mortgage industry in Canada handles most variable rate mortgages fairly differently than they appear to do in the US. I think that most of our variable rate mortgages tend to adjust every few months (3 is a common number), whereas these ARMs in the US seem to...

    Comments on INTC?

I have to say that I'm pretty displeased with my entry, but I'm going to stick with this trade. Today's action was kind of unusual (in both INTC and the Nasdaq Comp), but I'm sure that the day traders were lovin' it. More specifically, I learned (or re-learned) that it's probably a good idea...

Should also mention that it in retrospect, this wasn't a very well timed entry if I were a daytrader, Nasdaq Comp continued to move sharply downwards immediately after.

    Comments on INTC?

INTC has moved upwards today, breaching the downwards channel. Just opened a position during the mid-afternoon pullback, $20.12.

So, since we're both talking about INTC, may I ask what you would be looking for in terms of determining an entry point?
