Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

I'd bet against him. That would be the easiest bet I've ever placed. Between the shutdown, which he's horribly misplayed, Mueller's impending auto-de-fe, and NY State attorney general investigations, it's not a question of how, but when he will be taken out. The establishment is not to be...

Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

Does it apply to derivatives? Ok, perhaps I'm overreacting. Traders here seem to think the FTT won't be such a bad thing. Bring it on, then.

Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

Yes, I should have said “Asia has nothing like what’s been proposed here.” In other words, no derivatives exemption, tax applied to both sell and buy side, based on notional contract values etc. If these folks have their way, there won’t be plenty of ways around it...

Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

Ok, here’s a link from yesteday with yet another Ways and Means Committee member invoking FTT. But what does that prove? Nothing. It’s not any one link but the drip-drip-drip I’m reacting to. NYTimes will not serve this subject up to you in a nice package until it’s basically conventional...

Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

Katy Perry isn’t a member of Congress. AOC is a noise-maker of a particular sort they haven’t enountered before. Old guard working to put her in her place. They may well succeed, but the wave she represents will not be contained, I don’t think. We’ll see. To the best of my knowledge, there is...

Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

Other members of Congress have said that the super-high marginal tax rate is a non-starter, then mentioned FTT as an alternative. Which I find interesting...protecting their wealthy donor base. And AOC is not irrelevent, unfortunately. She has two million Twitter followers—more than any other...

Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

I’m not sure what point you’re making about Trump. He’s not going to get reelected. The incumbancy math heavily favors Senate Democrats in 2020. And the House is not going to flip GOP, period. We will see a Democratic Party sweep unless Dems somehow, miraculously, f%ck it up. Which could always...

Financial Transaction Tax: Here Comes a Really Bad Idea

Unless you’re a die-hard Trumpster (and maybe even if you are), you recognize that a Democratic Party sweep in 2020 is all-but-inevitable. That sweep is going to bring with it big and expensive plans. It is every progressive’s dream to implement a financial transaction tax to help pay for them...

    That’s exactly the problem.

Here we go again with the Financial Transaction Tax

I think it will happen in this country, assuming Dem control of Congress and White House, after the next 2008-style dive.

Anyone Tried the 60 Day Trading Gauntlet from Earn 2 Trade?

Pro tip: Notional contract size is irrelevent to most traders. You’re welcome.

Thanks. Your cheerful responsiveness to grumpy anonymities on ET is most impressive.

Anyone Tried the 60 Day Trading Gauntlet from Earn 2 Trade?

This is exactly the “logic” proponents of a Financial Transaction Tax wield. In all seriousness, you do have a rudimentary understanding of how markets work and why your evocation of the contract’s notional value is utterly specious, don’t you?

Anyone Tried the 60 Day Trading Gauntlet from Earn 2 Trade?

Does anyone pay more than $2.00 a side? IB, Tradestation, NinjaTrader brokerage, etc. Who doesn’t use a “discount” brokerage? There may be a lot of things to like here but that commission structure is a major fail.
