Son of If You Can Draw a Straight Line . . .

Here's the SLV Daily chart to show the break downwards from the mini consolidation. It is significant to note that not every wiggle is a missed opportunity if the message isn't clear enough to the reader of the price. Preservation of capital is a noble endeavor in itself. When the time is...

Son of If You Can Draw a Straight Line . . .

SLV dropped below the tight consolidation around 21. The drop came before the market open so only those paying attention to the futures got a chance to enter. Now this doesn't mean someone couldn't have shorted yesterday. I on the other hand wasn't keen on entering while the price action...

Sector Analysis Using Pure Price Action

XLE daily is showing early signs of weakness. These could be from demand getting exhausted after pushing the price beyond the overbought position line. Volume isn't significantly higher, showing it's not the killer supply that's pushing price down but rather the demand phasing out a bit...

Niko, Booo haa haaa haaa :D. No stress. You're are a feather. Let the winds take you where they may. Don't think of it in terms of riding a bike for the first time. Think of it instead in terms of love. It's time to make it...happen for real. Gringo

Sector Analysis Using Pure Price Action

A few years ago there was a conversation I had with a six or seven year old. We're at a lake and the boat is coming in to take him for 'tubing'. While we're waiting, I tell him to watch out for the sharks. The kid turns around with a confused look and says: "I thought sharks were a...

Sector Analysis Using Pure Price Action

Nice work Niko. I am going through one by one and quite a few look almost the same. I'll keep posting them separately simply because my colour scheme looks prettier than yours ;) Gringo

I don't want to jinx it but kind of looks like a straight line to me as far as the price move in concerned. Just sitting on the demand line and moving up in waves. Gringo

Why would you want to enter now? Notice the large move up. 40D just managing his long now. Once the exit takes place then one could look at going short or re-long but not when the move is closer to the end or the meat of the move has already taken place. Now the end isn't written in stone...

But...but..my moving average has been pointing upwards all along. Why would you bother thinking so much about price when the MA is so clearly indicating up is the direction. Isn't looking at the MA infinitely easier than thinking for oneself? I want more proof that you're not making this up...

Sector Analysis Using Pure Price Action

First analysis is of the energy sector. For that I have used XLE. I could have used DJUSEN and the analysis would have been almost the same. I say almost because there are some differences. As an example the current price of XLE is above the peak in 2008. In case of DJUSEN the price is...

Sector Analysis Using Pure Price Action

This journal is to keep an eye on the industry sectors and perform sector analysis using pure price action. Although there are many wonderful methods available for performing an analysis, it is expected that those contributing to this thread will stick to pure price action while explaining...

I prefer ETFs. Yes, I'll post something about the sectors but have gotten busy today. Gringo

We'll start with ETFs and when the times are slow delve into individual stocks as well. I might not be pushing stocks much simply because the gap and unexpected news make it just unnecessarily risky. Gringo

Db, It's a good idea. I'll start a journal. I also need to clear my mind regarding these sectors and industries. Perhaps the journal will give an opportunity to fine tune the sector analysis for later trading. This EOD trading does get slow and non-existent for certain stretches, and I am...

Son of If You Can Draw a Straight Line . . .

I wanted to check the condition of the Dow Jones US Heavy Construction Index. This was to gauge the current condition of heavy construction as compared to the pre-crash era. There is quite a lot of activity that needs to pick up before price can get to the pre-cash highs. Currently price...
