Does anyone know how to consistently win doing daytrading with stocks?

I don't agree. It is a personality thing. Everyone has a comfort zone on how they trade. For me, I couldn't sleep at night holding on to a position, but I have no problem sitting at the computer for an intraday setup.

Does anyone know how to consistently win doing daytrading with stocks?

You are probably right. I should have said "Do this until you get really good at it no matter how long it takes."

Does anyone know how to consistently win doing daytrading with stocks?

How good are you at drawing support/resistance and trend lines. If you are good at that, you will see price bounce off of them consistently. For me, that is the key to speculative trading. If you haven't done it yet, spend a few weeks just drawing these lines until you get really good at it.

Is This What ET Has Become?

When I first learned I could trade from home I, too, came here and other places, looking for the holy grail. I say ask away. It is a learning process.

    Malicious trolling and stalking

The only people I put on ignore are the ones that are abusive. That poster is WAY over the top and I believe should be banned. IMHO.

How are you going to qualify the responders? This is an open forum and there are quite a few that will answer that are not qualified.

This site was mentioned in another thread. Don't know anything about them and you have to pay for the demo. The indicators run on Tradestation. https://www.fibozachi.com/trading-indicators/elite-trader-package-demo

Repair Strategy for NFLX Short Put

My broker would not let me near naked puts with so little experience. His account must be huge.

What would it take to trigger a bullish buy signal?

I trade trading range reversals because I can't seem to "see" the trends soon enough. I recommend listening to Xela. I would look for a pullback on the breakout to get in. This is a common way to enter trends.

What would it take to trigger a bullish buy signal?

The stock is in a trading range that includes the previous high. 80% of breakouts fail, so you want to be sure that the breakout is real. Since the breakout has been going on for a long time, I would want a confirmation of a new trend before buying.

    Scalping Entry Signal

I guess we need to define scalping. If we are talking about making many trades each day for little profit each trade then I believe few are worthy. My goals are simple - look for $0.25 trades once or twice a day with a goal of $0.50 a week on 1000 shares. Some would say I am scalping.

how do i hire a backtester?

I agree with Xela. Communicating with a programmer to get what you want is non trivial. Then, of course, you will want to tweak, tweak, tweak ... Better to do it yourself.

has anyone ever backtested a method and then traded it profitably?

Absolutely spot on (to borrow a phrase from the Brits).

    CME on IB down.

I was trading the ES in March 2001(?) when the computers went down for hours. I was in a trade and a newbie so I didn't know how to hedge. I was down over $1000 before it came back on. Be prepared with a backup plan if you are trading index futures.

Can someone tell me if the high or low of day normally happens in the start or ending of the day?

    Here is my analysis of SPY since 2001. I used minute bars. Time Highs Lows 8:30 - 9:00 22.97% 25.33% 9:00 - 9:30 10.56% 12.14% 9:30 - 10:00 6.60% 7.76% 10:00 - 10:30 4.38% 5.45% 10:30 - 11:00 3.53% 4.21% 11:00 - 11:30 2.82% 3.89%...

How do I overcome trading procrastination

Pick a strategy that you think will profit you over time. Trade "don't care" sizes until you are comfortable with the strategy. This will take some time (maybe a lot of time), but then, procrastination does too.

    Need software recommendation for IB

Ninjatrader has a free charting and backtesting system and will hook to IB's datafeed. You will still have to use TWS for option chains.

Which chart time frame do most intraday traders use for s/r?

I do look at longer time frames, but for day trading I concentrate on the last few days. I also like to see the intraday pivot points. They tend to be s/r often. I think s/r is probably the most important parameter in trading.
