    swing trading/short term trade question

http://adamhgrimes.com/TAAS/the-course/ I took a lot of info out of that free course. Lots of information and ideas. I wouldn't skip to the setups just for doing it and take the time and go through the course.

cash balance in a trading account

As a newer trader myself I've actually found better results in keeping my open trade counts down. This could be more of a psychological thing. I found when thinking I needed to be fully invested I almost seemed to be forcing setups. I swing trade off daily charts just for some background...

    What actually controls stock prices?

Judging by your other post your very new to this. When you see a quote on a stock price that is just the last transaction that occurred. Stock prices are drove by what are buyers willing to buy at and what are sellers willing to sell at. It's just like an auction. That quote you see of...

    PDT for Canadians.

Wrbtrader is correct and I would double check for U.S stocks. I use TD direct investing and PDT rule doesn't apply and theirs no free riding rules either for cash accounts unlike in the U.S. I know however that Interactice Brokers Canadian accounts are subject to PDT rule and free riding...

Trade example from today-What happened here?

Does your system work off referencing the bid at open or is it just using a MOO order? You did as you said get the open price and ended up being not an ideal entry into the trade. Like you said your system is based of using the open and has been tested and been statistically verified so I...

    fees and commissions question

Just out of curiosity aren't CFD's leverage products? I'm just wondering how with those fees of 5 cents a share for a round trip being leveraged can break a system from a profit to a loss. Sounds more like a system/edge issue then a fee issue.

How to adjust historical intraday data? (solved)

You are correct. Yahoo historical data is adjusted for dividends and splits. Yahoo charts display only adjusted for splits. Google however only adjust for splits in their historical data.

How to adjust historical intraday data? (solved)

Never mind. I must've did something wrong way back. They do execute on ex date. I do know that it was a pain for charting as the two options I had were unadjusted for splits which isn't always nice when charting and using the adjusted close with dividend which would throw off support/resistance...

How to adjust historical intraday data? (solved)

I've only ever used Yahoo data for a but until I noticed their adjusted data also included dividends. This never made sense to me since the dividends are added to the data I believe on the payment date not the ex date. I see the importance for someone wanting dividends in their data but this...

Using different risk allowances for different time frames?

I'll look into it. I'd have to say I've stayed away from jumping around and sticking with trying to learn a method. Seems I've read from many traders that the worse thing new traders do is jump around too much. Options have always interested me but trading education is time and time is...

Amibroker AFL: help with formula (If... wait, condition?)

At first I didn't think it was the same person but I'm sure now. No way theirs two people as miserable as that. Not sure why I don't listen to the sign that says " don't feed the troll"

I had a similar thing pop up on my laptop with kaspersky. Labeled it as Trojan program or something about ads... Exited and haven't got back on with my laptop. On my phone now

    Question about Laptop Touchpad

Their are options I think some where's. I know my laptop I had to configure some sort of sensitivity to avoid my palms from activating it. Should be some sort of touchpad options some where's depending on who made the touchpad. In device settings in control panel using palm check I think it's...

Amibroker AFL: help with formula (If... wait, condition?)

I'll tell you the same thing I tell my wife when she wants to argue " You Win". Their is no benefit TomKrol, do not PM me, M.ST. is right. My only reason I mentioned PM was that I have noticed that simple questions on AFL on any forum and the yahoo group can go unanswered or get lost in the...

Amibroker AFL: help with formula (If... wait, condition?)

Wow man, just trying to network with people trying to learn AFL. Throw a few idea around maybe. I love forums sometimes. Weirdest thing is you sound an awful lot like like someone who was banned from the Yahoo group. I can pick his aliases out from other forums so easily.

Amibroker AFL: help with formula (If... wait, condition?)

https://www.amibroker.com/guide/a_funref.html Here's a good link to just go through the multiple built in functions and see their description. Always plenty of ways to do achieve the same goal, usually theirs one that's more efficient though. Feel free to pm me whenever If you want with...

Amibroker AFL: help with formula (If... wait, condition?)

Thanks for the link. I've just seen that topic on here before about it being beta. Just throwing some guidance to him on what to look for. It's not something I've read up on myself. The documentation for Amibroker is sometimes overwhelming. Devlogs, Amibroker knowledge base, the user knowledge...

Amibroker AFL: help with formula (If... wait, condition?)

I've never looked into it or had the desire for auto trading. Here's a good old thread on someone's setup using Amibroker to develop and Openquant for execution. http://www.elitetrader.com/et/index.php?threads/openquant-amibroker-my-recipe-for-building-robust-automated-trading-systems.125961/...

    Freestockcharts

Gold will give you free data from the BATS exchange. Platinum allows for real time quotes and real time scanning. As far as a nice charting package I didn't mind it when I used it. It's pretty simple and ridiculously easy to use. I've hit freestockcharts before when not on my own computer and...
