Anyone use IB for Forex Trading?

You Should use "MIDPOINT" instead of "TRADES" when you select a chart for IDEALPRO, then it works.

    Booktrader vs. Ninjatrader, Buttontrader, etc.

Not worse, nor better..it's just the same: as good. Have your really measured it?. The Answer is Yes.. While I can not speak for Bracket nor Ninja, I know the measurements of ButtonTrader, and these tell me that there is no significant difference at all..Even when I know that ButtonTrader...

    Booktrader vs. Ninjatrader, Buttontrader, etc.

Why do you think any of these programs will give a better fill? You click a button, the program sends the order to your local TWS, TWS sends it to IB server, IB server sends it to the exchange. And here it depends on what kind of order you submitted, market or limit, how it is processed. The...

Is FIX the way to go for automated trading with IB?

Yes but it lacks Account, Budget and Portfolio information...so not useful for retail at all.......(FIX only for Orders and Execution-reports, and market-data through the IBgateway...is only a half solution....).

    IB or Oanda or ????

You can always connect a frontend (like ButtonTrader, etc) to TWS for all the features that you like to have but are not in TWS. Some frontends are even for free (or nearly), but can give additional features, when you take advantage of a combination: frontend + TWS.

Does IB or any Broker Offer Risk Controls for Traders?

Oh..Yes.. it does a lot more than that (see screenshot). You can set your positions to enter to a certain level ($50,000 in stocks and $10,000 in Futures and/or 10 Futures, or 20 Trades or what ever…). It also can close all Stocks and/or Forex, etc per SecurityType when they pass a day-loss...

    IB Suggestions & Improvements

    All these Risk-management settings can be found in an IB- front-end (ButtonTrader) already...but to be frank: only a few really sets and uses them properly :( {traders hate to lose 'freedom' when the market turns against them -- ironically --}

Few rookie IB + API questions

Sorry but you are ALL wrong! The 50 messages is for SENDING message (Orders etc) to IB through the API, not for receiving Quotes (they are only limited by the snapshot frequency, which gives you realtime quotes of any ticker you are allowed to subscribe {which might be many more than 100...

Few rookie IB + API questions

Yes...very sadly ONLY 3 MarketDepth Tickers can be requested...a limitation from-history (in 2002 when MD was offered for the first time it was probably a resource eater..but I doubt it is still the case...remember that you now can open many more BookTrader windows all with MD. it would be...

    Disputing an IB trade

Sorry, but you were NOT clear at all, in your posts. You never wrote, that “IB-representatives acknowledged the problem, could reproduce and that programmers were working on it”. Your posts were even not clear to AlanM and IBsoft, who replied to your posts as well. PS: I’m not an...

    What else do I need

It might help you to know, that when you take a 3rd Party Frontend as your trading tool (like ButtonTrader), that you then can (and it is even better to) use the support of the 3rd party instead (or aswell).... Asking questions and reporting problems to ButtonTrader and QT support will help...

Question on Bracket Trader and Button Trader ??

ButtonTrader provides already Bid/Ask-pressure-analyses, and we are currently working on a project called "tape-reading" which involves traded-volume-analyses. Bracket-Orders are held where YOU want them...you can choose for each Order (Open, Target and Close) if it should stay on your PC, or...

    IB Trailing Stops

You might take a look at the 3rd party API-programs for IB...some of them have this feature. (ButtonTrader for instance has it, and it's even possible to use up to 5 different trailing-steps and triggers for the same trailing Order...for example: first a trigger on 5 ticks profit with a trail of...

    Disputing an IB trade

Please, don't try to make a fool of me....I worked with every TWS version and all beta's in the past 6 years.. (maybe I know quite a bit of it...). I just tried to create a Buy Limit-order, and a attached Buy Limit Order with a different Lot-size (as in your example)....There are 3 types of...

    Disputing an IB trade

I think it is not made that way..... The Attached-Order will only become active when the Original-Order is fully filled...then the Order-size of the Attached will be changed to the MATCHING number of the Original....at least that is the way it was originally build (and intended to be...
