If you have huge volume that moves the market violently in one direction, the odds are good that you hit stops. It probably will move the other way, unless conditions warrant continued movement in the same direction. You will be able to tell that from order flow too.

The CME has been closed since May since the floor guys mereged onto the floors at the CBOT. The vistior galleries have been closed for some time to the public. However, you could befriend a trader and be taken onto the floor.

My thought is that they cater to professional traders and assume you have a minimum capital base. It is one way to prevent too many undercapitalized and inexpereinced traders to the platform. This is different than whether or not you need 10K to trade.

Mirus futures provides a great futures feed for free with Zenfire. I found their feed to be good when doing backtesting and paper trading strategies. I have used it with Ninja Trader with great success for market replays and live data.
