    reliable intraday chart data(?)

Gotta give it one "good ol' college try" to see if anyone has some input on this. Thanks in advance.

    This "edge" stuff

many final thanks to those who helped on this thread. I guess I was at the doorstep and just needed a bit of prodding, because I think I found my "edge." At minimum, I'm significantly closer finally, as I have some smaller details to work out only. I think someone described it as "you'll know...

    reliable intraday chart data(?)

I really enjoy the use of stockcharts, but have come across a problem relating to intraday use. To hopefully make it clear, I'll paste my email and then the company's reply: When checking the hourly graphs on QQQQ, I noticed something odd and troubling, perhaps. When I made 3-9 be the end...

lot of thanks around the horn for some good discussion. Agree that NTB has provided some nice food for thought-style examples.

    This "edge" stuff

'preciate your replies. Sounds like an edge is an understandably independent thing based on the individual trader. If it gives you the confidence to trade it based on significant study of past results, then I guess it's an edge.

    This "edge" stuff

Thanks for your help. You said something interesting regarding no TA being an edge in itself. That may well be the case, but my reading of acrary in another thread relayed to a specific example of gaining an advantage on a particular trade. [he wasn't endorsing TA in that example, but was citing...

    This "edge" stuff

I participated in a thread that acrary appeared on, and he gave what I saw as a very good example of what he means by "edge." [related to inflow of funds to mutual funds] With that thread being specifically about automated systems (and not edges per se), things moved on. Here, I'll ask and...

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

cohvi--'pologize for getting away from your thread. acrary, thanks again for your reply. I am sure with my enthusiasm and quest for learning, I could drive ya nuts. Would try the PM thing again but realized you'd be overwhelmed in a short while with such requests. So, will use the search...

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

That’s a great example, acrary. I appreciate your providing that stimulus for my mind to strive that direction. If, for example’s sake, I note that a stock trending strongly upward and then coming back to the 10 day MA over a few days on decreasing volume is a good long play, then I need...

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

I understand your example regarding benefiting from market conditions, but I guess I need to further research the term "edge." I am working on something myself, and I wouldn't want it to be too dependent on temporary conditions. Thanks for your efforts.

Reasons for failur in automatic trading systems

Acrary, I am not over here often, but I have read some of your intriguing takes. Can you elaborate a bit on an "edge" vs market conditions? I think I understand that market conditions can render some strategies relatively useless, but how is an edge different in that it can deal with varied...

    Mr. Williams responds

andrasmn, I understand what you're saying. But we're all human--from the most ignorant to brilliant. I'm sure he's fed up at times with accusations of bogus when he has been legit. Sometimes, ya just gotta react. If he's always doing that, it's a different matter. I imagine it took awhile to get...

    Mr. Williams responds

I always hold that eye of suspicion for everyone in that circuit, but I tend to agree he's legit. And a LOT of people blew out in '87. He admits it, thankfully for his rep, rather than cover. I tell ya a scam guy, and that's Wade Cook, of the "Stock Market Miracles" and "Wall Street Money...

is your November emphasis a projection of a potential support point or something? Sorry, I'm not an accomplished technician yet.

    resumption of the bull market?

Just checked the Rydex Cash Flow indicator. Pretty interesting, but I still am not sure about how it truly measures the amount of cash coming into our going out of the funds by investors. Couldn't the asset value (which is what it's still being based on) be affected by the appreciation or...

    Trading Hammers (revisited)

Many thanks, and excellent reading to support your position on that subject. I can see where one would easily be tricked by simply and mechanically looking at narrow setups that don't take into account all the key factors. For those who do use some kind of screener, it's supposedly much wiser...

    Trading Hammers (revisited)

Mark, I have only gotten to August 25 on this fantastic thread, but I'd like to confirm that you'd follow a particular strategy below; I trade stocks and not futures, but think these following options would apply for both: One could set up some kind of screener system to produce a list...
