Another way to possibly look at it is on the big decline you had a strong resistance TL with 3 touches, which then became the support TL that needed to also get that 3rd touch before bottoming for good.

VIX barreling northward, past yesterday's high. Could reverse any minute, but until then I'd be careful on the long side.

Agreed, and I'd like to suggest adding to the list of useless posts: - after the fact posts of closed trades (especially scalps) without any useful information about the setup or strategy - P/L posts (with or without blotter, 1 trade or day means nothing)

Yeah, not sure what happened there at about 13:19 EST, when it spiked down to around 17.25 on the 1min. It's now back to where it was ... 17.60-ish (edit).

To all you longs, Vix just took a hell of a tumble. :)

Ahh .. that I haven't looked at. My guess would be statistically other factors may be more important. Good trading

"Finishes"? ... does it ever really 'finish'? I did a basic study on whether it reversed at least 2.50 before it continued 2.50, and it was around 67% ... but that included hypothetical entries @ anywhere from EXACTLY 10-points to 10 pts on the nearest 1.25 grid (i.e., 44.00 -...

4TV.com (free Bloomberg) - now gone?

Oops ... did not know that - thought it was subscription only. Found it now ... thanks. Still, I think the format of 4TV was a bit better, so I hope they come back up.

4TV.com (free Bloomberg) - now gone?

The site seems to be MIA ... anyone know whether it's gone for good? Would be a shame - was a nice altenative to cnbc. (Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but better visibility here and I thought it had SOME relevance to trading).

Ya was thinking that myself. Also noticed RTH was up 2% ... good chance a p&d by those in the know.

Good call. I was willing to stick with the MA's, but now they've obviously been breached. Rule of 10 prevails once again.

I'm sure everyone sees that 1504.25 was LOD +20, globex. It hit on huge volume, but MA's still strong and timing seems a bit premature for HOD to be in, IMO. Thoughts ?

mbusch : time frame means everything, doesn't it? If you look at a 1 year weekly chart, the indices are still in an uptrend and above the 200- and 50-day MA's. Regards

Got my butt handed to me today on ES live

Coupla things ... First, sorry for your rough day - we all have them now and then. Second, how long have you studied/paper traded ES? IMHO you need to put in at least 6 months of solid, profitable trading on sim, and book profits of at least twice what you hope to make trading your real...

Nice entry. I got in a little lower (63.50) due to bad timing and general slow-wittedness ( :D ). Took some at 57.50 (swing -10.00), stop moved to 62.75 (open+1t). Ultimate target is 50.50 or EOD.

67.00 was 50% of globex range and just over the a.m. RTH high. Good turning point IMHO.

Saxon - thanks for that story, and sorry for your misfortune. I was considering opening a small acct with OEC since IB raised margins. Now I don't think I will. I don't know of any other trustworthy brokers with rates as cheap as EOC, but if you find one, do let us know. I'm reasonably satisfied...

There was a floor trader on cnbc this morning saying he sees Dow 12,000 by the 17th. I forgot his name; he's one of the regulars though.
