TradeStation - give me the real picture

yeah... I wanna hear how great TS is, which is why I am asking for opinions, because I really have signed up already. I mean why even post here? I really do want to hear from people who actually use TS, not idiots who want to comment on the thread!

TradeStation - give me the real picture

you are starting to give your otherwise useful comments a definite flavor.... unlike yourself I believe that more than one opinion is often useful when one is looking for the real picture - otherwise you end up with a heavily biased sample from a group of people with identifiable traits...

TradeStation - give me the real picture

yeah - this is the point where things get a bit grey.... Fortune Teller and HSC.1775 are adamant that TradeStation is not up to the task. There are always such strong negative opinions. But like livinlife says, you need a healthy skepticism to realize where the negativity is coming from...

TradeStation - give me the real picture

it is nice to hear from people actually using the system who are not displeased with it. I heard the CPU hogging was mainly an optimization problem? The Matrix order entry looks great, I think I could really make use of some of its features. Anymore intraday futures traders out there...

TradeStation - give me the real picture

TradeStation bashing seems like a given in most forums. I am actually considering moving to  TradeStation from a more "sophisticated" bundle of platforms. There is a high proportion of losing and whining traders. More traders use TradeStation than any other platform. Therefore more...

    Mirus: anyone experienced?

Anybody who is using or has used Mirus recently with any insights to share? Anybody able to compare them to IB (whom I am currently with)? Position/Portfolio tracking? Withdrawals? Trade desk... Any comments at all most appreciated...

    Ninja/Zenfire

I am seriously considering dumping IB for Mirus and using the Ninja/ZenFire combo. These freezing issues concern me greatly as I am a frequent trader and often switch sides exactly at high market velocity moments. Are these freeze issues ongoing and unresolvable? How often on average are...

    YG - any experienced traders...

weird: http://www.cmegroup.com/cmegroup/trading/energy-metals/metals/mini-sized-gold.html Does the "first notice" date correspond in any way to volume shifting?

    YG - any experienced traders...

I am starting to track YG for the first time and am confused by the volume shift from M8 -> Q8, missing N8. If anyone could educate me on this I would appreciate it...

The Way Forward For Independent Traders

@ TraderMojo actually I read the link to your older thread and you seem to have once had the same idea. The whole (quote): "Collaborate on ideas, compete on implementation" is kind of what I was thinking. The totally random replies you got in that thread, and the general lack of usefulness...

The Way Forward For Independent Traders

The repository should only allow the upload and maintenace of open source code. If the code is there for anyone to dowload and manipulate then it shouldn't matter what it is. Organising strictly by download frequency provides and automatic filter. The whole requests/locked systems...

The Way Forward For Independent Traders

I think all programmers will post here I mean we are not saying: post here your complete million dollar strategy money machine. This is about sharing the grunt work, not the "inner secrets"... I am working on a universal backtest written in C# that can run off multiple files sources...

The Way Forward For Independent Traders

Chicago that looks nice - but we don't really need a forum. We want a code repository. Baron is right - the organisational structure is the key. I think that namespace dependency should rule the day. So a C++ utilitity that requires the .NET framework would go in .NET. A Java utility that...

The Way Forward For Independent Traders

I would moderate it if someone would host and webmaster it - I think an open source trading software archive would be great!

The Way Forward For Independent Traders

OK: There is a website where all members freely post any code in any language that they have developed. Ordered by language and theme. Listed by download frequency. We share, we win. I mean - surely someone else has written a custom backtester in C# that can run off any data format...

    bid/ask volume data

the funny thing about EPF files is that they seem to include both quote and trade data, the former appearing with a Q prefix the latter with a T.
