AIG almost back to old levels. Like the crash never happened

This bubble will pop and it will be spectacular. My guess is the end of the month or whenever the Fed complies with the court ruling.

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

Ok, this is the last post from you I will ever see as you are on my ignore list from now on. Any stock under $5 is not marginable??? Blow it out your ass - this is completely dependent on the broker you use. To give you an example, I can buy 100 shares of AMD (presently trading @ $4.22) with...

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

LMAO @ GSEs to start paying dividends. These guys are still on the hook for trillions of debt collectively, and many billions of those will be lost. First you say these stocks must be above $5 for funds to be able to buy them on a margin (this is total BS, btw). Now you're pushing the divident...

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

myorifices, are you fucking high on crack or something? What yields? Pension funds? Yeah, if I am putting money away for retirement, I'll be sure to ask the advisor to put me in some hot GSE stocks, like FRE/FNM/AIG.

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

Enjoy the run, and thanks for "I told you so". FRE & FNM are insolvent, and are in a large part responsible for the housing crisis. Nothing has fundamentally changed, and the emperor still has no clothes. Fish like you are getting suckered in, only to be left gasping for air when the plug is...

Hurrricane Bill - short oil on spike?

    Yeah, how almost Freudian!

Hurrricane Bill - short oil on spike?

That was my point - it hasn't run up on storm news until now. It jumped a dollar in a matter of minutes around 17:00 EDT today. Demand is still weak, and a 5% jump in one day is unjustified. Markets are WAY overbought and developed world economies are still weak. Short. EOM. I hope...

Hurrricane Bill - short oil on spike?

What a joke, it's not even projected to hit the Gulf of Mexico. Big shorting opportunity here for oil.

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

Well, I suppose to each his own. FWIW, the market has already "come back", and well past where it should have stopped. There has been no general correction to speak of, thus far. Not sure where you're getting your $5 targets from though, nor does it matter too much anyway - enjoy it while it...

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

Yeah, in times of widespread euphoria, this is known as "dash to trash". It will be a lot fun watching this run unravel in the coming weeks.

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

Last week FRE reported a (dubious) profit, while FNM posted a huge loss. Other than that, I don't see why the feds haven't yet merged the two together.

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

The Treasury cannot lose money on FRE stock - you can, though. Read this to understand why: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_takeover_of_Fannie_Mae_and_Freddie_Mac The bottom line is this: "Also each GSE contracted to issue common stock warrants representing an ownership stake of 79.9%...

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

If you knew a little bit about GSEs as well as what happened last year and the total amount they owe to the taxpayer and government, you'd have no need to ask that question.

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

Yes - go short above $1.3

IB mark to market on CME futures

It actually closed a bit lower than 322, but nonetheless the deviation is not negligible. I wouldn't care so much except for the fact it flipped to 319.5 right after 2:15 EDT (close of trading for corn) and has stayed there since. As I am long the contract, this obviously has a negative impact...

    Las Vegas Sands (LVS)

I beg to differ. Serious investors will not touch a debt-ridden POS like LVS with a 6' pole. They will not survive a second dip into recession, if it happens (which it very well may).

IB mark to market on CME futures

WTF is wrong with IB showing bogus market value for agri futures? As I'm typing this, my acct window is showing Sept '09 ZC at 319.5, yet the official settlement is 322! The CSR said nothing can be done to fix it until the next session - nice work, guys!

    GE Put Options

See the message posted just before yours. Post your daily statement with the account info blacked out. Your trade sounds as real as Madoff's.

    GE Put Options

Why not just end the uncertainty and cover now? You are still making $20/contract. It's 2009, and writing naked puts on GE is kind of like doing the same for BSC, the week before its collapse. Today's rally is running on fumes, IMO.

What's the option cancelling fee on IB?

You could think of it that way, if you'd like. It may not be implemented exactly so, but no matter - the fees for modifying orders are the same as those for cancelling.
