There is no such thing as price action.

I completely agree with your statement . I have found that trading is defining the "points" where price action has tended to consolidate, and trading the departure and arrival at those points. I would define this as "price action".

How many markets do you trade?

One market It seems like I could trade it in my sleep. I know all the points by memory, can "feel" the movement.

Is there charting that handles pivot points for you?

As another already stated, all major charting packages have a pivot suite.........have you tried the "modify parameters" function ?

Try to explain this contradiction in trading philosophy

I would assume that you might want to know the average range of the time frame bar you are entering / exiting on....and decide on a ratio based upon that average range. Example: the average range of a 2 minute bar on the YM is approx 10 pts........So, depending on the type of "day" the market...

    Trader P/L 2008

I agree, Anek CQG / FCM does not net out my commissions until much later, after reg hours. So P/L screen always shows gross until then. Standard fare isn't it ?

Is IB good to futures scalping?

Allow me to state for the record, I am not an employee of Advantage Futures, and don't care if anyone uses them or not, but here is my experience with Advantage: 1) I clear through Advantage as a CQG Integrated Client, so I do not use their platforms, and therefore I am not familiar with the...

Go ahead get yourself into massive debt that you can't afford, the American dream

Loss of confidence in the "governments'" credit worthiness ????? With all due respect to your opinion, how on G-D's green earth can anyone have confidence in an entity that can print paper with men's faces on it anytime they get in a pinch. ???? Need to bail out ------------- (insert...

IB will eliminate intraday margin reductions. Commencing at 12:00 EST today

I respect your opinion. I will end my remarks by admitting that when I started trading, some 20 years ago, I was a foolish and un-disciplined "trader". I would venture a wager that most of us started out in a similar manner. "Big" traders started out as small traders. Not all small cap...

    The Bernanke Credibility Index

I voted a "two", my reasoning is as follows: 1) I believe it is credible that his last name is indeed Bernanke. 2) I believe it is credible that his beard is real.

IB will eliminate intraday margin reductions. Commencing at 12:00 EST today

I visited the IB web site for the first time, and the outfit looks like a very professional entity. Given some of the threads I have read regarding IB's apparent heavy hand with dotting the i's and crossing the t's, I think the problem may be one of "culture". I have little use for stocks...

IB will eliminate intraday margin reductions. Commencing at 12:00 EST today

Is this site owned by IB ?? It seems everytime that someone has a complaint or negative opinion about IB, the plethora of "happy customers" come out of the woodwork. I could be wrong, but some of you "happy customers" seem a little more zealous than just a regular "joe customer"...

    OJ/ Coffee Random Musings

KCU8 has shown strong support at the 140 level, and industry buyers seem to be buying the dips below 141, a technical rally to 150-155 is very possible...However, keep an eye on the rising bag reports....the 14 July certified stocks report showed an increase of 22,849 bags over the 7 July...

    John Templeton RIP

With all due respect, your view of taxation and the utter disregard that "government" shows in squandering OUR money is troubling. "...Our country gave him the opportunity to succeed in his business.............." I would offer that rather than you, me or our dear "Uncle Sam" giving Sir...

Determining when to Trade different Contract Sizes

Hello Wiesman02 My son and I trade the YM exclusively, and we trade 4 contracts. When we went from 2 to 4 it was to correct a problem we were encountering with exiting from our winners to soon. We thought that we would enter with 4, and shed two at the average range of a 5 min bar, and...

Help with my trade management, see picture

I trade the YM exclusively, so I am familiar with the chart you posted. I grant the caveat that what works for you, might not work for me and v/v, but a couple of points to ponder: 1) It seems like you are looking for a mechanical methodology, but if you were to plot on the YM chart all of...
